There are people in your life who would be delighted to spend a Thursday telling a golf ball where to go.

Get three of them. We have room for a few more teams.

The 29th Annual Guy C Lee Charity Golf Tournament is Thursday, November 5th, at Star Hill Golf Club in Cape Carteret.

Registration is $85 per player or $340 for a foursome, including green fees, golf carts, and lunch. Advice from the other three people in your cart will also be available, whether you requested it or not.

Prizes include Longest Drive, Fairway Fashionista, and Most Honest Golfers, among others. We appreciate a tournament that makes room for both athletic achievement and an accurate account of what happened out there.

Check-in begins at 10 a.m.
Lunch is available at 10:30.
Sh***un start at 11.

Your afternoon on the course helps support safe, affordable housing for local families. A perfectly good reason to clear your calendar and spend some time with friends who apparently know exactly what you’re doing wrong with your swing.

Remaining team spots are first come, first served.

Faith, Fellowship, and a Pretty Good Short Game

The Swansboro United Methodist Church Men’s Group is proving that doing good in the community is always in season, even on the golf course. We’re grateful for their support of our 29th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, and for the heart they have for serving others right here in our community.

These gentlemen know that building a stronger community takes teamwork, a little elbow grease, and showing up when it counts. We’re glad to have them in our corner (and hopefully not spending too much time in the sand trap).

This one’s worth putting on the calendar.
And putting your ID in your wallet before you leave.

On Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th, Newport ReStore is giving FREE Friends of Habitat memberships to veterans, active duty military, and their spouses.

Normally $10 annually.
On November 11th, the membership is on us.

That gets you an additional 10% off donated items for a year.

Purple-tag items and purchased inventory, including Desertland flooring, are excluded.

You must present a valid Department of Defense ID in person to receive your free membership.

The ID does need to make the trip with you.

Free memberships are available November 11th only, during store hours, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

A thank-you for your service that you can keep using throughout the year.
