The biggest battle wasn't the heat... it was a crooked girder.
Five Women Build volunteers showed up ready to work, and by the end of the day they had logged 25 volunteer hours, installed floor joists, learned the magic of nail guns, crowned, cut, and notched lumber, put in blocking, and successfully convinced one particularly stubborn girder to straighten up and act right.
Was it hot? Absolutely.
Did that stop anyone? Not a chance.
The crew kept pushing through the heat, learning new skills, sharing plenty of laughs, and making real progress on a future home for a local family.
A huge thank you to today's volunteers for proving once again that a small crew can get a whole lot done when they show up ready to work.
Want to join the fun? No experience required, we can teach you how to use a nail gun. We can't guarantee the lumber will always cooperate, though.
