Available today — a devil face jug by Pennsylvania potter Kevin Haney of Mad Dog Pottery.

Haney is known for his expressive character jugs, often featuring exaggerated facial features, wide eyes, and toothy grins. His work leans into a playful folk-art style, with each piece individually hand-modeled so no two are exactly alike.

This example has great personality with applied horns, a big grin, and nice glaze movement across the face.

Feel free to reach out if interested. Always glad to talk pottery.

Offered here is a striking devil face jug by Florida potter Karen Labarga. This example features bold sculptural horns, applied ears, and a dramatic grimacing mouth with individually defined teeth. The glossy dark glaze contrasts nicely with the exposed clay around the eyes and mouth, giving the piece strong character and expression.

Karen Labarga is known among collectors for her expressive face jugs and devil forms that draw inspiration from the long tradition of Southern folk pottery while maintaining her own distinctive style.

A great example for collectors of contemporary face jugs. Stand at 9.5" H. Signed Labarga and 625.

SOLD!!

Otis Norris Candelabra Face Jug – #1
June 2004

Offered here is a sculptural candelabra form by South Carolina potter Otis Norris, featuring multiple candle sockets and two applied snakes across the head.

Norris was drawn to the historic Southern face jug tradition and developed a distinct style that set his work apart from traditional Edgefield and North Carolina examples.

By the early 2000s, he was known for numbered, dated pieces — a detail collectors appreciate for tracking his stronger, character-driven period.

Marked #1 and dated June 2004, this is a bold early 2000s example with great presence. 11.25" H.

Collectors know the pieces that truly stand out aren’t just decorative — they carry presence, personality, and a story.

This impressive 22" face jug by Billy Ray Hussey is a great example. Strongly modeled with an expressive face and finished with beautiful multi-colored glaze runs across the back, it’s the kind of work that continues to define the strength of the Southern face jug tradition and why it remains so compelling to collectors.

Even in a house full of pottery, some pieces naturally draw attention — Owen made sure this one didn’t go unnoticed.

I’m always buying, placing, and handling important contemporary and traditional Southern pottery at McDaniels Antiquary. If you’re searching for a particular maker, form, or standout example for your collection, feel free to reach out — I’m always happy to connect when the right pieces surface.

Nice fresh face jug by North Georgia folk potter Roger Corn, made in 2025 and standing about 8 inches tall. Bright glaze, great expression, and classic Corn character.

Roger has been working in clay since the late 1980s and is known for putting his own spin on traditional Southern folk pottery, especially his long-faced jugs and whimsical figures. His work has shown up in auctions and folk pottery festivals across Georgia and continues to be popular with collectors.

Great addition to any Southern folk pottery or face jug collection.
