These gutters were thwarted by the little leaf filters put in the downspouts. They always -Always- cause more trouble than they help. Some situations call for a different type of leaf guard, but these mesh ones should be avoided at all costs.

Yes 👏 gutter guards still need to be cleaned!
The homeowner was confused when rivers of water were coming over the edges of the gutter, and scheduled us to come take a look.
Some gutter guards can create ice damming in the winter, or a layer of leaves/dirt/material on top of the screen can divert water straight over the gutter entirely.
Cleaning gutters with guards is much more costly because we need to
1. Uninstall
2. Clean the guards
3. Clean the gutters like normal
4. Reinstall the guards
But with our regular clients, we are able to offer a “checkup service” on them every 6 to 12 months that hopefully helps offset the higher cost of cleaning when required.

Anything we can do if it helps our customers and keeps their home free of water damage 💧

Pine needles really cause some trouble for gutters! 🌲
Ponderosa needles are especially long and wont flow down a spout. Pine needles are heavy and get matted down, and collect extra leaves and material that block the flow of water.
Just jkeeping an eye on needles protruding over your gutter is the best place to start.
