Same basement. One rug made all the difference.

This space does it all — beds, a desk setup, a couch and TV. The old rug was shaggy and curling at the edges, and it just made the whole room feel unfinished.

She sketched two ways she wanted to redo it and asked which made sense. So I came out, measured the floor by hand, and we walked through both together until we landed on the one that actually fit — flat, clean edges, sized right for the space.

Now it feels done. The kind of room the whole family actually wants to hang out in.

That’s me on the floor — every room, start to finish. No crew I sent in my place, no sub I never met. Just me, my pops, and a level we don’t lift until it’s perfect.

Spec’d to the manufacturer so the warranty holds. Subfloor swept clean before a single plank drops. I walk every room twice before I call it.

This whole job started with a DM. I spelled his name wrong in the first message. He hired me anyway.

Measured it back in April. Brought the material in 8 days early to acclimate before I laid a single plank — because that’s what the manufacturer spec calls for, and it’s the difference between a floor that holds and one that gaps in a year.

LVP through the whole house, carpet in both bedrooms. Old staples pulled, subfloor cleaned, power-stretched not knee-kicked, every vent cut clean.

Even the crawl space door got carpeted. Nobody’s ever going to see it. We finished it anyway. That’s the whole difference.

Most installers cut corners where nothing shows — knee-kick instead of power stretch, staple the pad seams instead of taping them, skip the HVAC vacuum because nobody’s checking.

Each shortcut saves them 10 minutes. Each one costs you 5–15 years of floor life.

Your installer matters more than your materials.

Premium carpet from a big-box store can fail in 3 years if it’s installed wrong. Basic carpet installed right can last 20+.

The difference? The hands that put it down.

✓ Take-up the old, inspect the subfloor — patch, level, prep before anything else
✓ Tack strips inspected — damaged ones replaced, solid ones reused. Bad strips don’t hold a stretch.
