Almost everything we sell is made in the studio shop behind the green doors on Maple Ave, and it’s the part of this business I’m proudest of.

I design every piece. Some start with a photo and a sketch, others with a different spark, but the finished product is always unique to Left Grain. We love a good trend, a local team to rally behind, and a custom order. Whatever it is, it gets a little Left Grain twist.

The story behind the design…My favorite favorite part of this one is hearing why it resonates with others…and who they remember and think of when they see it. I often get to hear funny stories, sometimes heartbreaking ones, and I know who has a son or daughter or grandkid who has left Indiana and for sure getting this in the mail or wrapped up for a holiday gift.

My grandpa was known for napping in cornfields (along with a few other intriguing places…). I grew up “in the country” of Indiana and always passed a cornfield on my way home. I currently drive through cornfields when I leave the studio to head home, and I just need those wide open spaces and for the horizon to appear like it goes on forever and ever.

I like to create in small batches, but this design will live on in my collections for as long as there is a Left Grain.

Adding hats to our line up started with the kiddos!! We designed some hats for ROMAN & LEO™️ | BOYS BOUTIQUE and then things just continued to take off! Now we have our kids hat wall full of some old favorites, one of a kinds, and new styles we’re testing but there’s usually a little bit of Midwest flair to our kids hat lineup.

LOVE HARD.

It's the first line on every Left Grain tag, and honestly, it's where a lot of our collections start.

Take the sauce collection. It began with my kid and his NEED for ketchup. One design turned into a few more, because it turns out people have strong feelings about their condiments. Some of the best stories I hear in the studio come from customers defending their favorite sauce like it’s family, or picking out a gift for the person they know who can’t live without theirs.

That’s what love hard means to us. Loving what you love without apology, whether it’s your people, your team, your hometown, or ranch dressing. And staying true to it, even when it’s not the cool thing to love.

We design for the lovers, and we try to live that way too.
