Spring is always a busy season for anniversaries at VIA, and we want to take a moment to celebrate Lorin hitting his 1-year milestone!⁠
⁠
Over the past year, Lorin has made a huge impact through his willingness to support others and share his expertise. Whether it’s a quick Revit question, a modeling glitch, or guidance on a project, he is always ready to lend a helping hand and has become an incredible resource for the team! His participation in this year's LAB class is just another example of his drive to keep building on his professional growth and leadership skills.⁠

Lorin is also technologically intuitive and has helped bring our projects to life through CNC, laser, and 3D printing, while also bringing his practical skills to lead the design and construction of our Pop-Up Park playhouse last year!

Today we hosted AIA Virginia Leaders in Architecture & Business!⁠

It was great to have the group here for a day focused on Firm Culture and Effective Teams. We’ve always believed that the best way to grow as a firm is to support each other’s growth as individuals. We love that our team shares that same passion, and it's been fun to see them get involved! Lorin is a part of the this year's class, while Iroda has joined the Steering Committee after being in last year’s inaugural class!

AJ has had such a big impact on our team. Even though he’d rather stay out of the spotlight, his contributions don't go unnoticed. He's always willing to jump in and help, no matter the task. Since joining VIA, he’s proven to be incredibly motivated and adaptable. He's also a fast learner who is always eager to take on something new. Lately, that’s meant exploring how AI technology can enhance our workflow and helping lead our 2026 Summer Intern Fellowship!⁠

Say hello to Mark!⁠

Mark is an international student at Virginia Tech! Inspired by the architectural heritage of Egypt and the Philippines, he's driven to create meaningful spaces that foster a sense of community. He is particularly interested in biomimicry and how it can be applied to create functional environments that integrate seamlessly with nature!⁠
⁠
Outside the studio, Mark runs the architectural Instagram account, Inked Architecture, and serves as a keyboardist and community leader with Chi Alpha Campus Ministries. ⁠

During his W_internship, Mark is excited to look behind the curtain at VIA's day to day operations—seeing how projects move from early conversations with clients through design development and coordination to final ex*****on!

Leah is a Roanoke native and a third-year architecture student at Virginia Tech. Outside of architecture, she enjoys volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and traveling on mission trips to serve others. In her free time, she loves to sing, crochet, paint, and write!⁠

Leah is eager to soak up everything VIA has to offer during her W_internship. She’s especially interested in joining in on client meetings and seeing how Revit is used in a professional setting while gaining hands-on experience of her own!

AI is no longer just a buzzword—it’s changing architecture in real, practical ways. At VIA, we see it as a tool to handle repetitive tasks, giving our team more capacity for creative problem-solving. However, technology can only go so far. It’s never a replacement for human intuition and design judgment.

As a 2026 Fellow, you’ll spend 10 weeks collaborating with our entire team to find the 'right balance'—streamlining VIA’s business operations and exploring sustainable design tools so we can better dedicate ourselves to our clients and our community.⁠

Because this work will touch every aspect of our firm, we’re opening the 2026 Fellowship to a mix of skill sets beyond the architecture studio. Backgrounds in disciplines such as Data Science, Business Operations, Design Technology, and more are also encouraged to apply! 🧑🏻‍💻📊
