November is a month that I reflect on all the things I’m grateful for.

I wake up each morning with a grateful heart and knowing how blessed I am with my amazing life with family and friends!

I am grateful that I have an amazing husband who encourages me to enjoy life to the fullest. I am grateful that I get a chance to work with flowers and also to get back to my horseback riding, which has always been a passion for me. As long as I remain grateful, my life will be fulfilled.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

As we wrap up Thanksgiving weekend, Michelle and I would like to share what we're grateful for this year.

I am so grateful I get to be a grandmother ("Mimi") to the most funny, creative, curious little girl I know! I see my grandbaby several times a week and pinch myself for the foresight to move within a stone's throw of her parents. I am grateful to see her growing from one day to the next. There are no feelings in the world that compare to loving her and seeing her express love through blowing kisses...She gives extra [even] hugs to her books if she likes them and wants to "read" them again! She brings me back to center and never lets me stray too far from the course. Thank you Immy for being a very precious reminder to " go with the flow" and " stop and smell the roses".

Stay tuned for Michelle's gratitude post tomorrow!

Last week, we shared some beautiful handwritten notes that we hold very dearly.

Continuing on the train of gratitude, this week we'd like to highlight a recent review we earned from our dear clients, J and B, who shared a beautiful ceremony last week.

Every project is unique, and every couple has a different vision that we get to bring to life.

Thank you, J and B, for allowing us the opportunity to tell your story through florals.šŸŒøšŸ’

We keep all of our thank you cards 🄰

The most rewarding part about our job as florists is getting to make your dream come to life through our flowers.

Your trust (and happiness!) are what keeps us moving and motivated. We're so grateful for every project we are able to be a part of.

Sometimes the most unexpected projects are the most rewarding 🌿✨

We were contacted by a bride just six weeks before her wedding, requesting florals for her rehearsal dinner and welcome party. Normally, that’s something the wedding florist would handle, but she had a distinct vision and wanted something a little different: minimalist, modern arrangements that focused more on color than any particular flower.

Her palette:
āœ”ļø Buttery yellow
āœ”ļø Pale lilac
āœ”ļøMossy green

It felt calm, natural, and elegant. She loved the idea of incorporating real moss, so we leaned all the way into that.

Because we couldn’t find the vessels she envisioned, we decided to make them ourselves. We tracked down vintage lotus bowls on eBay and fitted them with pin frogs we attached using Gorilla Glue epoxy. After a few rounds of trial and error, we found the perfect hold.

The result: beautifully reusable, one-of-a-kind vases.

To give everything a grounded, organic feel, we added foraged elements from our very own hikes (dried mushrooms, bark, and of course, layers of soft moss).

It took some experimenting to find just the right balance and moisture for the moss to keep the flowers fresh, but the finished pieces exceeded our expectations. Yes, we still surprise ourselves sometimes!

Seeing them come to life at The Wildcat Tavern and The Wentworth was so rewarding. Thoughtful, textural, and full of quiet beauty.

This project reminded us how much creativity comes from problem-solving. Sometimes, the best ideas bloom from trying something new 🌸

Have you met Nancy and Michelle?

Our co-owners have beautiful, unique stories that led them to the world of florals.

Nancy has always loved creating beautiful spaces for entertaining. Long before it was trendy, she was setting tables with her grandmother’s china, hand-picked garden flowers, and a Martha Stewart flair without the fuss.

Her love for minimalist and Ikebana-style design stems from her childhood in Japan. After a successful corporate career at Procter & Gamble, Nancy decided to follow her creative side, studying floral design at the Rhode Island School of Design, the Flower School of New York, and beyond.

When she’s not designing or growing flowers, you’ll find her skiing, biking, visiting her daughter in Edinburgh, or soaking up time with her beloved granddaughter.
Nancy and her ā€œfloral buddy,ā€ Michelle, started Lupine & Sage Floral Design to share their love of flowers, support local growers, and be a part of the Mount Washington Valley community.

Michelle’s flower story started early—at just 14, she was already working at a floral shop while studying horticulture at Essex Aggie in Danvers, MA. She spent the next 27 years honing her craft, eventually earning the title of Master Florist and building a loyal following who trust her eye for design.

Outside the shop, Michelle has a heart of gold. She’s been a foster parent to many children and loves caring for her dogs, cats, and sprawling gardens. When she’s not working with flowers, you’ll probably find her horseback riding or reading a good book.

At Lupine & Sage Floral Design, Michelle brings her decades of experience and genuine care to every arrangement, helping people celebrate life’s moments both big and small.
