Taylor Ceramics is the effort of artist Cara Taylor, with focus on the exploration of beauty and design through form. Combining the methods of wheel throwing, slab construction, slip casting and hand drawn decoration, Taylor makes pieces that are simple and functional. Whether one of a kind or slip cast reproductions, Taylor seeks to create unique wares that retain the organic qualities of the clay itself.

This is the littlest piece in the show up at
coming in at just over 4 inches tall. As much as I have been enjoying working on a larger scale, I still love the intimacy of small objects. The gallery is open today through Sunday.

These pieces combine a lifelong love of textiles, patterns and stitchwork on knitwear, quilts and embroideries. Recent classes in basket weaving sparked a desire to create my own version of stakes and weavers. With over twenty years of making functional pottery, working with clay gave me the technical framework to re-imagine the traditional coil pot, one that is integrated with a rhythmic, stitch-by-stitch construction to create strength, texture, and intricate surface designs.
