Nine months ago I went to the hospital for a week. There I recieved a couple plants. The cup on the left was what held these plants originally. Since then, I've gone through a rigorous recovery and these once plant trimmings have grown. If I look at all I've done since starting ECKART LLC, it may not look like a lot at first. I've been running everything primarily by myself, from creating a business plan, painting, making a website, updating social media etc... all while recovering from an illness that tampered with my behavior and cognitive functions. I hope to keep growing as a person and with my business. Currently I have some coloring pages I am developing that I intend to release in the next couple months or so. I'll give a video update on that soon, but in the meantime I'm just resting in the sense of accomplishment I feel looking at these plants grow.

There's a few changes I'm making to how I'm posting artwork on here. I'm not a fan of Meta's policy regarding using real artist's artwork to train their AI. I don't want any part of that, so I've been mainly posting my art on Tiktok and Youtube instead of featuring it on this platform. Since I don't have 1k followers on Tiktok or 50 followers on Youtube, this is still the only platform I can do livestreams on. I've been working hard over the past few months to build a steady routine, so I'll try to do livestreams a lot more frequently this summer. Lots of fun projects in the works, from oils, watercolors, digital and woodwork! I'll still use this platform to give updates on my business, but I'll be limiting the amount of artwork I post on here from now on.

On another note, I took a bit of a hiatus to get my health back on track and establish a work routine. I'll be posting on/off as several major life events are happening in the next few months, but we're making progress one step at a time!

Analogies go over the heads of little kids, who will take things very literally. This has lead to some very cute memories, especially this instance where my middle child was having difficulty articulating that her body was telling her she was hungry. For some reason, telling her that her tummy growled like a hippo helped her connect her hunger to the idea that there were hippos living in her tummy. She learned how to listen to her body and express her needs through telling me the needs of her hippos. The hippos were connected to her hunger and other bodily processes for a couple years. She even exercised empathy with her hippos, expressing that she felt like her hippos would be coming out soon when she was watching me go through labor with her little brother. It was a very round about way for her to express when she was hungry or needed to go to the bathroom, but the connection made sense to her and it didn’t take a lot to meet her where she was in her developmental understanding. Sometimes communicating with kids is more effective when we can play into their imagination and allow ourselves to think about their situation in their shoes.

This past summer I've been focused very heavily on my prayers and meditations. Back in August I had the unfortunate experience of being touched inappropriately by a spiritual leader. That left me very lost, and I threw myself into prayer. I read from my prayer book every morning, and in my mind I meditated on a barren land filled with wind and hands. I sometimes paced as I recited my prayers because of not wanting to be touched by the hands in my mental scape. When I described my meditative realm to my husband, he said it sounded like the lust realm in Dante's Inferno. I've never read the book, so hearing me describe the second level of hell gave my husband chills. I figured that lust is right below purgatory because lust is often mistaken for love, but it is not of God. I've since focused on changing my mental scape into something more pleasant, but I wanted to make visual representations of the worlds I see inside my mind. I call this painting "Hades."
