Anything But Ordinary!

Almost 38 years ago I started a business teaching Swimming to small children. Over the next 39 years, it grew into a terrific company with enormous potential to become a world-wide known name. I made the decision, a year ago, that it was time for me to sell and take life easy. The company got snapped up and I was retired!

Well, retirement lasted three weeks only! It was definitely not for me! I was miserable! What next? What can I do? What am I good at? What do I love doing? These were very complex questions as I had been in the world of Swim Schools totally for a long time. I really had no hobbies. I was good at most sports but age creeps in. The fun activity that I really loved was thrifting and having ideas on how to turn a plain piece of furniture, or door, or screen into a piece of art. With the help of artists, I have done this for three decades and my ideas have been greatly admired over the years.

Can I do this professionally I asked myself ? Can I turn this into a business? Will it sell and most of all, will it be fun??

Within a very few weeks the business plan was written. The showroom/warehouse was rented. and a van was bought. My artist was on board and very encouraging. He recommended a terrific handyman and I found a web designer and a graphic artist. The big step was next. Off I went thrift stores to buy “HasBeens.”
