If I could go back 25 years to when I first started my career in interior design, I thought experience would come quickly and confidence would follow.

What I’ve learned is that the best lessons come from the projects that challenge you, the clients who trust you, the mistakes that make you better, and the years spent refining your eye. Looking back, I wouldn’t change my journey. Every project, every conversation, and every home has helped shaped the designer I am today.

If you’re just beginning your career, whether it’s in interior design or something completely different, give yourself permission to grow. You don’t have to have all the answers on day one. Keep learning, trust your instincts, and remember that your best work is still ahead of you.

Things I Loved in July 🤍

Every month, I find myself drawn to certain colors, materials, and little details that inspire the way I design. July was all about relaxed, coastal living and natural textures that make a home feel welcoming without trying too hard.

This month I couldn’t get enough of woven materials like wicker, rattan, and bamboo, crisp linen in soft neutrals, fresh hydrangeas, and that unmistakable scent of citrus and sea salt drifting through the house. I also found myself returning to one of my favorite summer palettes: blue and white, with touches of lime green or orange to bring a little energy.

And of course, every well-loved summer home deserves a beautiful drop zone for beach hats, towels, and flip-flops. Sometimes the simplest details make everyday life feel just a little more effortless.
