Today’s rescue:

Some of my dad’s trinkets 🥰

My dad passed away last month and as we were helping Mom clean out some of his things, we all picked some of the trinkets he had saved over the years. They were all tucked away in boxes in drawers or cabinets.

I took mine and made this little display in my curio cabinet so I can enjoy looking at them.

He made the little wood recipe box and the bottom is signed ‘to mother from George’ and I added his heartbeat in a bottle from the ICU team at Aurora 🙂. The rest are just random trinkets but they are the kinds of things that just end up getting tossed most of the time but they are such neat pieces of history 😁

Anyway, my point with this is that we can keep all that sentimental stuff, but need to find a way to honor it and enjoy it - not just stuff it in a box somewhere 😁

Today’s rescue:

These guys and the surfaces have all been in my stash for a while. I was kinda hoarding the Santa faces 😂

But since I’ve been on a roll using and getting rid of stuff from my stash, these needed to be used because they took up a lot of room in my Xmas craft supply boxes 🤭

The wood slice on the one was already repurposed once 😁 We bought it with a dog print decoupaged on it, which my husband removed and used it to mount the first pheasant retrieved by one of our dogs years ago, then it sat in my stash for a few years 🤪

I was collecting old funnels to make a tree because of something I saw on Pinterest long ago.
I am also always picking up small trees but have been trying to use them up.

And then I realized I could put them together!

Today’s rescue:

This wood tree. It was painted a dark green and had the white splatter paint on it which wasn’t very attractive 🤭
So I painted it, then distressed it, then set it aside for almost 2 months 😜

I couldn’t decide how to finish it off but yesterday I thought of simply using jingle bells! I painted a wood star for the top and voila - so cute 😊

What the heck?
St Vinnies is my favorite place to thrift but the one in Oconomowoc will stop accepting furniture starting December 1!

I sure hope all of them don’t stop like Goodwill did because people still need a place to donate it so it doesn’t end up in a landfill 😩

If they wouldn’t jack up the prices so high the stuff would move so much faster and they wouldn’t need so much room. 🙄

Meanwhile, all of the thrift stores have TOO MANY clothes. And they charge way too much for wall decor so that’s becoming another thing most have too much of.
