I’ve been busy in the studio making new things, and this one might be a new favorite!

I turned a w**e barrel stave into a Horizontal Propagation Board with five glass tubes for rooting plant cuttings. I love giving old materials a second life, especially when they get to help something new grow.

I’m making these just in time for the Recycle Santa Fe art festival, November 6–8!

Take a peek at the new creation:

And if you’re coming to Recycle Santa Fe, I’d love for you to stop by and say hi!

Six lovely ladies joined us at the studio for a full day of making things, sharing laughs, and letting their creativity run wild.

Morning: rope bowls. Afternoon: fabric painting. And Curt handled lunch, so nobody had to ask, “When are we eating?” Win-win.

Your next girls’ day out could look a little different. Bring your favorite people, try something new, and leave with something you made yourself.

Post detailsI’m happy to share that I’ve teamed up with , a fiber and fabric shop, to teach classes in October and December!

I’ll be sharing some creative know-how, learning alongside fellow makers, and probably encouraging a few new craft obsessions. Because apparently, we don't have enough projects waiting for us at home. 😉

Santa Fe friends, what craft have you always wanted to learn—or what’s the next thing you want to make?

Seven quilts went in. Two came home with ribbons.

The Northern New Mexico Quilt Guild’s biennial show brought together more than 200 quilts at the Santa Fe Convention Center, and I was honored to have seven of mine included.

Two received recognition from a professional, certified NACQJ judge:

Sandhill Cranes — Red Ribbon, Art Quilt Pictorial/Whimsical
Origami Flowers — Yellow Ribbon, Alternative Technique

I’m especially pleased about Sandhill Cranes. Art quilting is my chosen genre, and this piece is the first in an original series I’ll be working on this winter.

So now I have two ribbons, a little validation, and a whole lot of work ahead of me.

Which would you choose: the cranes or the origami flowers?

A little trip down memory lane before I pack for Northern New Mexico Quilt Guild Quilt Fiesta Oct 2-3.

I’m heading to Quilt Fiesta in Santa Fe, and I thought I’d share a few pieces from my past work.

Some are old favorites. Some remind me how much my work has evolved. And, of course, there are always a few pieces that make me think, “Yep, I’d still make that one.”

I’ll be bringing some of my work to Quilt Fiesta, so if you’re attending, come find me and say hello!

Which of these would you want hanging in your home?

Quilters, I have a question: How many quilts are too many quilts?

I’m pretty sure the answer is not a number I’m willing to admit.

I’ll be at Northern New Mexico Quilt Guild Fiesta in Santa Fe on October 2–3, surrounded by beautiful quilts, creative people and plenty of inspiration. And yes, I’ll have Phoenix Rising Creates with me.

If you love quilting, handmade art and finding something you absolutely did not need but suddenly cannot live without, come see me!

Save the date and come say hello. I’d love to see you there.

What happens when you finally make time for the things you love?

For me, it meant turning a lifelong love of making things into Phoenix Rising Creates.

After 30 years in a stressful career, I found a new creative chapter in wood, fabric, quilting, vintage sewing machines and just about any medium that catches my attention.

💜 I create.
💜 I teach.
💜 I repurpose.
💜 And I love helping others discover that they can make art, too.

From reclaimed w**e barrels to fiber art and 70-year-old sewing machines, there’s usually a new project taking shape in my studio.

That’s what Phoenix Rising Creates is all about: create, learn, repurpose and keep rising.

Want to see what I’m creating, shop my work or join me for a class?
