Lucky Rooster Yarns LLC is open in Olathe! This locally owned shop offers yarn, tools, classes, and a gathering place. Hi! Olathe needs a yarn shop.

Welcome to Lucky Rooster Yarns in Olathe (OH-lay-thuh), Kansas. We need more places to connect with community and the therapeutic benefits of crafting with yarn. Lucky Rooster's mission is to offer a place to help meet these needs with yarn, tools, classes, and a gathering place. The owner, Kathleen, named the shop for her two children: the first tends to walk through life with some kind of charmed shield around her, and the second is well described as a rooster. You might see these kids at the shop (Lucky and Rooster are not their real names!), and you might spot Kathleen's husband, Darrell, on site as well. Please take time to say hi and introduce yourself to us when you pop by. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. If you are looking for a specific yarn, tool, or class, please send a message. As a new shop, there is a lot of room to influence how it grows.

They say to make a plan to vote. Well, I meant to vote some time last week, and it just didn't happen. Finally, I wrote it on the to-do list so I can't forget or put it off. This morning I reviewed my sample ballot so voting will be quick. If I can do it, so can you!

📣 Shout-out to Darrell for making Tequila Chicken tonght. It'll feel like a reward for getting through the to-do list. 🥰

The Hexi Cardi is all the rage!

You will find variations of this pattern for different weights of yarn, some free, some paid, and some as Crochet-a-Longs (CAL)s.

Crystal followed one such CAL with Matt on Guilded Loop to make her bamboo + cotton blend hexi cardi in Pandamonium by Cascade.

Erica used a wool + yak + silk blend from Life's a Stitch, dyed by Phaedra out of Lenexa, and chose to modify a free pattern found in a simple Internet search.

Two at a Time (TAAT) Sock class starts TOMORROW, October 24!

This is our most popular class by far, and we still have availability in this next go-round. Jennifer is teaching us how to make two socks at a time on two circular needles. Participants can choose DK or fi*****ng weight yarn. So long as your gauge is at 7.5 or 7.0 stitches per inch, you can use one of the patterns written for this class.

NOTE: We are not meeting on Saturday, November 28 (weekend after Thanksgiving). Class meets October 24, 31, Nov. 7, 14, 21 and Dec. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. Register in-shop or online for $60.

Jennifer C. took a look at the clearance yarn and had so many ideas all at once. Since then she has made up a couple samples for the classes she will teach next in the Granny Skills Series. First up, please meet the Granny Beret. Class meets Thursdays from 6-8 on October 29 and November 5. Register online or in-store for $25.

The Olathe Arts Festival is the next big thing happening right outside the yarn shop. Come see the sights and hear the music Friday, October 9 from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday, October 10 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Note that North Cherry Street closes late Wednesday night (after the shop closes, but may affect Thursday shoppers). South Cherry and East Park will close Thursday night.

As always, I just adore that they place the food trucks right by my shop door. Kind of sweet really. 🥰
