Located on historic Route 1 in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, Stepping Stones Antiques LLC is situated in a warehouse setting and features down-to-earth prices on used furniture, books, fine art, postcards, tools, curiosities and objects d’art. As founder of Stepping Stones Antiques LLC, in 1976, Norman Legassie’s responsibilities include the buying and selling of fine art (paintings, prints and sculp

ture); the decorative arts (glassware and pottery); furniture (colonial to contemporary); jewelry; postcards; and books (antiquarian and collectible). On a weekly basis, he manages the shop as a means to market these objects d’art to area antique dealers and retail customers. Appraisals of estate contents including furniture, fine art, jewelry and household goods have been compiled for insurance, probate, and equitable distribution for attorneys and individuals in southeastern Connecticut. Other services include estate sale management, liquidations and clean-outs. He also serves as a generalist appraiser at Appraisal Days sponsored by local church groups, senior clubs, and historical societies and CPTV on a pro bono basis. He is a member of the National Association of Professional Appraisers. Legassie completed studies in sculpture, drawing, painting and art history at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Connecticut, and was awarded scholarships for three consecutive years. He was a member of the faculty at the Lyme Academy from 1983 to 1988, teaching figure and portrait sculpture. Linda Legassie serves as Business Manager of Stepping Stones Antiques LLC. In addition, she brings many years of experience as a researcher in the fine and decorative arts from prehistoric to modern. She has participated in eleven archaeological excavations in southeastern Connecticut. She received the Bachelor of Science from Eastern Connecticut State University and the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies at Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT. Based on her thesis topic, the Caroline Black Garden at Connecticut College, in 2001 this four-acre teaching garden was honored by Gardens for Peace, an organization promoting worldwide peace by recognizing and promoting gardens around the world as symbols of peace. Legassie currently teaches Art History in the Humanities Department at Three Rivers Community College, Norwich, CT.
