Laying wood on the ceiling

Took these beautiful maple floors from water-damaged and worn to rich, warm, and completely revived. We patched in the damaged areas, refinished everything in DuraSeal Premium Wood Finishes Heritage Brown, and topped it off with a satin oil-based PoloPlaz finish that really brought the character of this maple back to life.

After refinishing the hardwood throughout the upstairs and downstairs, the clients decided the floors weren’t enough—so we took the craftsmanship overhead and started laying wood on the ceilings. Stained and installed pine in the master bedroom and nursery.

Complete transformation of this 120+ year-old staircase and hardwood floors.

After removing the carpet, the project revealed extensive restoration needs—from structural leveling and subfloor corrections to repairing damaged treads, risers, landings, hallway sections, and the upstairs bedroom. Every element was carefully restored to preserve the home’s original character and craftsmanship.

The result is a seamless blend of old and new, where the refinished work feels as though it has always belonged, honoring the home’s original aesthetic.

We brought these original red oak floors back to life in a 100+ year-old Dundee–Happy Hollow home with the care and craftsmanship they deserved. This restoration included sanding and refinishing, leveling the upstairs office, weaving in new red oak repairs, and hand-laying a custom border in the main hallway with a special meaning behind it.

Preserving the charm, character, and history built into every board — while giving this growing family a floor that’s ready for the next hundred years.
