My name is Jason Brunner, and I am the founder and owner of Jays Superb Store. I started this store as a way to support my girlfriend, Anne, after she suffered a major hemorrhagic stroke in September 2022. Her stroke was a life-changing event that has impacted both of our lives in profound ways. Anne underwent a 7-hour surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in which they had t
o remove 70 to 80 percent of the right side of her brain to stop the hemorrhage, During her surgery, she died for 20 minutes but was successfully resuscitated by an amazing team of doctors. After her surgery, Anne was in a medically induced coma for 3 to 4 weeks and stayed at UNMC for about 3 months. She had to have a part of her skull removed during her surgery and is scheduled to have it replaced on May 1st, 2023. Anne's stroke has caused many problems, including the need to learn to eat again and use her left side again. She is currently receiving intensive therapy at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital to help her recover. Anne has been in Speech Therapy to teach her how to chew and swallow correctly and to relearn how to speak with a loud tone, (She had a tracheotomy performed and had her trachea tube removed about 3 and a half weeks ago). Occupational Therapy to help with movement of her body again, and Physical Therapy to teach her how to walk again. So far, her left side is still dormant, but there are some signs of improvement. I have quit my 9-to-5 job to be here for Anne and started this store to make up for my lost income. I am staying with her and have acquired caregiver rights, which means that I can move her from bed to her wheelchair and from her wheelchair to the toilet and back along with many other things such as diet control, helping her learn to dress herself and more. I plan on devoting my time to her and this store, but of course, Anne will always come first. During my time with Anne at Madonna, I have lost my home because it wasn't suitable for her, and my car because I made a mistake and let a friend borrow it. I am asking for your support as my customers to help Anne and I, by making our new store successful so that I can stay with her and provide her with the 24/7 care she needs. All proceeds from the tips I receive at this store will go to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital so that they can continue their amazing work to help their patients. I believe that we can grow together and create a successful business that supports both Anne's needs and our community. Anne's next phase is going to be a skilled nursing facility that will be located somewhere in Nebraska, possibly over 150 miles away. My number one goal is to get her to a new home and lead a happy life with her in the future. Thank you for choosing Jay's Superb Store, and for supporting us during this challenging time.
