Built by Donald Custom made to order dear stands / dear blinds built to order. I custom build each stand, so additional sizes are available. I build them all year round.

Basic deer stand / blind is made of OSB with metal roof over plywood & roofing felt, hinged windows all around that open & close, shelves, full size hinged door, 2' treated legs & painted green. 4'x4' is $380. 4'x6' is $480. Extra options at an additional cost include plywood, treated plywood, plexiglass, carpet, taller legs, ladder, glass windows, bow windows, skids or break down. My stands are a completely enclosed box that you can stand up inside. Call anytime between 8am & 10pm.

General information

My name is Donald Oldbury and I've been a carpenter for 50+ years. I received my Journeyman Carpenter Degree from Lamar. I've been a carpenter since I was old enough to hold a hammer. I've been building custom homes for the last 40+ years.

Our Story

It started 4/24/51, not the business, but the legacy... Donald was born that day and was raised to work with his hands. Swinging a hammer, using a saw, and creating something from nothing was going to be his story. This man has probably built half of the houses and businesses in Mauriceville and as well as a lot of Southeast Texas through at first his father’s and then his oldest brother’s business Oldbury Home Builders. Donald retired and took to doing side jobs and mainly building deer stands, dog houses, and pretty much anything else his heart and mind would create. Always willing to help. Today this story has generated a new chapter in his and his families life. His son and son-in-law has taken over the load and now have the burden of quality and commitment to follow what he believes in. Luckily for all of us Donald is still around after a few bouts with some health issues and continues this fight with this family by his side for this long journey. Donald and his entire family deeply appreciate all of the outpouring of love and continued support as he travels his path. As of now, this business will continue to be called “Built by Donald” because even if he doesn’t touch a single piece of wood again, he built this family. the moral standards, and commitment we have for one another. On behalf of my brother-in-law and myself (Jonathan) we appreciate your continued patronage of my father’s creations and look forward to assisting you in the future!
