Mostly family & friends here on my personal FB page, but if you’re also a model railroader and not already following the Fantasonics Engineering FB page, you might want to…

We don’t post much:), but we have been working quietly in the background (fitting:), and will be sharing some nifty stuff there.

Just a little bit of Scale Magic philosophy. When we build a scale model, we know it’s fake! The bricks are plastic, the weathering is chalk, and worst of all, it’s just plain LITTLE! As soon as someone walks up to it they understand that it’s not the real thing.

But!

With a bit of craftsmanship and skill, the only thing that’s real, is the illusion…

Well, Dave has spilled at least most of the frijoles…

Not much I could say about this aspect of the Gruesome Gulch project better than Dave has. I can tell you working with Dave was a treat, he’s a creative, positive, and unnervingly prolific spirit. We certainly took having fun seriously… and left no gravestone unturned:).

I’ll share some of the boring technobabble here soon, but for now you can peek backstage of this miniature dark ride at the link below. Have fun!

It's special effects time! In this installment of the Gruesome Gulch build, I install a pair of Pricom Dream Players with custom soundtracks from Fantasonics...

Hey All,
The good thing about following Fantasonics Engineering is… I don’t post much:)! That may change a little…

Been working with Mr. Dave Meek over at Thunder Mesa Studios recently, all quite top secret… but we HAVE been having fun:)! Heard from Dave earlier today and I ‘think’ the time to spill at least some of el frijoles is getting nearer…

If you’re curious, here’s a couple links:

https://thundermesa.studio

And the ‘not so too secret’ project:)…

Stay tuned, and if curious, you might want to follow Fantasonics Engineering… it’s mostly reasonably painless:),

Hey all,

A number of people have recently asked me about the little loco on our splash page… The Whitby. For one thing, it’s named for my model railroading hero, John ‘Whitby’ Allen:). His G&D HO railroad inspired me more than anything else in our Hobby!

The Whitby was first conceived as an animated display piece for our Christmas elves, and specifically, for A. C. Jones (whose picture graces this FB page:).

Since the Holidaze are coming up all too soon:), and if you’re one of those people who were curious, you can read all about the little loco in all it’s incarnations, at the Whitby Locomotive Works (it’s buried in the old original Model Railroad Magic Website that still exists in the bowels of our server… just be careful, the old site was designed to wander around in, and get lost!:)

Hey all, our friend Jt Burke at 3S (Scale Sound Systems:) has posted the first "Sound Thinking" YouTube, the first of many we hope. This one is about EQ in the TSU2, BUT...

The ears NEVER blink, we are always hearing! Knowing what to LISTEN for... that's trained ears:)! Jt's discussion is focused on the TSU2 EQ, but there is a TON of terrific information about what we should listen for, and look out for, from any onboard decoder and speaker! Well worth a look (and listen:)...

Sound Thinking is a new video series where I discuss topics and share information and comparisons in greater detail. This first episode compares the Athearn ...

Bernard Hellen at Miniprints has really taken our Hobby by storm. He’s providing 3D prints with exquisite detail in an ever growing catalog... he’s a terrific bundle of positive energy, and I’m tickled to be able to call him friend. We’re co-conspiring to make a line of 3D lanterns available exclusively through Miniprints. Printed in clear resin suitable for lighting. More as things evolve… but this is honest fun!

We've been working in the background for most of this year... the store is open and we answer all inquiries (mail and phone, messaging not so much:). I apologize for not keeping up with Facebook much, I do check in every so often...

But please do know I am around if you want to ask a question or brainstorm about layout sound!
