Today we remember & honor those who answered the call to serve our country & protect our freedom. Who are you honoring today?
Our family tradition is to visit the grave of my dad, Bill Smith, who was a career army man. He served over 20 years, was in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and upon retirement to his hometown Heber City, Utah started the tradition of displaying the Stars & Stripes on the lampposts along Main Street for the Memorial Day and July 4th Holidays.
When the city council initially balked at the idea due to cost he bought the flags himself. Obviously the city has since embraced the idea as now the displays include pictures of hometown servicemen and women in addition to the flags.
We'd love to hear about a member of your family who served or who is serving today.
Post pictures if you have them.
