Hi! I’m Donna, the owner of Dramatix Decor.

Everything I did before Dramatix Decor is a big part of what makes me a trusted designer and business owner today.

I started my career in sales and marketing, working for four Fortune 500 companies. After leaving corporate America, my business partner and I built Image Works Wonders, where I spent about 14–15 years as an image consultant, executive coach and corporate trainer working with major corporations.

During the 1990s, we were at the forefront of the transition to business casual in corporate America, helping companies and their employees navigate a completely new way of dressing for work while still maintaining a polished, professional image.

Eventually, corporations began bringing more of those services in-house, and I knew it was time to reinvent myself.

I had always loved homes and interior design, and so much of what I had spent my career doing translated beautifully into design. Color, style, proportion, personality, presentation and—most importantly—understanding people were already second nature to me. I added professional training through HSR Home Staging and Design, and Dramatix Decor came to life.

Twelve-plus years and over 200 residential and commercial clients later, I still absolutely love what I do.

I also believe my corporate background is a big part of what makes me successful as a designer. Creating a beautiful room is only part of the job. I bring professionalism, strong communication and negotiation skills, attention to detail, efficiency, integrity and very high standards for customer service to every project.

My mission is actually pretty simple:

I want you to walk into your home, look around and think, “I absolutely love my home.”

Because ultimately, it’s your home, your style and your budget. My job is to listen, guide you and bring it all together.

Lets bring YOUR vision to life!! 😊

A Thread of Continuity: What Makes a Home Feel Beautifully Connected

One of the most important parts of designing an entire home is creating a thread of continuity from one room to the next.

That doesn’t mean every room should look the same. In fact, it shouldn’t. Each space can have its own personality while still feeling like it belongs to the same home.

In this project, we’re working with a beautiful palette of warm woods, soft neutrals, ivory, blue, taupe and touches of black throughout the home.

One of the bedrooms already had dramatic black draperies, and rather than replacing them simply because black wasn’t a dominant color elsewhere, we incorporated them into the overall design.

The key was to repeat the black intentionally.

We added a black bench at the foot of the bed, used a black frame around the coastal artwork, and kept darker hardware and accents in the room. Suddenly, the black draperies no longer feel like something we’re trying to work around—they feel like an intentional part of the design.

At the same time, the blue bedding, ivory layers, warm gray furniture and blue/ivory/tan rug connect this bedroom back to the colors being used throughout the rest of the house.

That is what good whole-home design is about.

You don’t necessarily need the exact same furniture, fabrics or colors in every room. Instead, carry certain colors, finishes, textures or materials from space to space. A little repetition creates visual rhythm and allows every room to feel different while the entire home still tells one cohesive story.

Sometimes the best design decision isn’t replacing what you already have—it’s finding a way to make it look like it was part of the plan all along.

Want to instantly elevate the look of your bathroom? ✨

One of my favorite designer tricks is taking the shower curtain all the way up. Instead of a standard-height curtain, I used an 84-inch-long scalloped shower curtain hung higher to draw the eye upward and make the entire bathroom feel taller, softer, and more finished.

The scalloped edge adds just the right amount of detail, while the extra length gives the shower a custom, almost drapery-like look — without the custom price tag.

It’s such a simple change, but it completely transforms the room. 🤍

ONE WEEK TO GO! ✨🍽️

We are officially in the home stretch at Monee Family Restaurant, and it is so exciting to see this transformation coming together!

Over the past several weeks, we’ve completely refreshed this space — new flooring, fresh paint, beautiful new lighting, warm wood accent walls, quartz countertops, reupholstered booths, artwork, greenery and so many carefully selected finishing details.

This week we’re hanging the final pieces of artwork, styling the space and putting all of those last details into place before the doors officially open. 🤎🌿

One of my favorite parts of this project has been blending new finishes with pieces that were already here, giving this longtime restaurant a completely refreshed look while still keeping the comfortable, welcoming feeling of a family restaurant.

Opening day is just ONE WEEK AWAY! 🎉

I can’t wait to share the finished space — and the before-and-after photos are going to be incredible!

✨ Monee Family Restaurant — The Finishing Touches Are Happening! ✨

Another exciting day at Monee Family Restaurant! The newly reupholstered booths arrived today, and what a difference they make. We chose a warm cognac upholstery paired with the existing black to give the booths a completely refreshed look while reusing and updating the restaurant’s existing seating rather than replacing everything.

We’re also busy hanging artwork, styling the new olive trees and pottery, and adding those final details that bring warmth, character, and personality into the space.

So much has changed throughout this renovation — new flooring, fresh paint, new lighting, quartz countertops, fluted wood accents, updated upholstery, artwork and accessories — and now we’re getting to the best part: watching all of the individual design elements finally come together.

We’re almost there! 🤎🖤🌿

FROM COOL TO WARM 🤎 | A BEDROOM REFRESH

Sometimes a room doesn’t need a complete redesign—it just needs a shift in color and a few thoughtful updates.

This client’s bedroom already had great bones and beautiful furnishings, but the overall palette was feeling cooler than we wanted. The combination of blue walls and a black accent wall made the room feel heavier and less cohesive with the direction we wanted to take the space.

The biggest transformation came from paint.

We replaced both the blue walls and the black accent wall with a beautiful warm neutral that immediately softened the room and created a warmer, more inviting backdrop.

Rather than replacing everything, we worked with many of the pieces already in the space.

The white furniture, bedding and blue-and-white custom drapery stayed, while a few carefully selected accessories, warmer tones and natural textures helped bring everything together. The blue that once dominated the room now works beautifully as an accent color against the warmer neutral backdrop.

Even the adjoining dressing area was refreshed with woven texture, warm brass details, blue pottery and a touch of leopard print for personality.

The result is a bedroom that feels warmer, softer, more current and much more cohesive—without a complete renovation or replacing an entire room of furniture.

It’s one of my favorite examples of how impactful design can be without starting over. Sometimes a new paint color, a shift in undertones and a few thoughtful styling changes are all a room needs.

Sometimes your home doesn’t need a full renovation… it just needs a thoughtful refresh.

For this front porch, we layered in classic black-and-white accents, fresh greenery, and cozy seating to create a welcoming first impression that feels both polished and inviting. The patterned outdoor rugs ground the space, the planters add softness and symmetry, and the comfortable chairs make it a place you actually want to sit and stay awhile.

It’s amazing how a few intentional updates can completely transform the look and feel of your entry — and set the tone for the entire home.

If your front porch is feeling tired or unfinished, a seasonal refresh might be all you need to fall in love with it again.

We love helping homeowners create beautiful, welcoming spaces — inside and out.
