As 2024 comes to a close, we’ve been reflecting on our journey as a science-inspired brand. While we didn’t see the growth we had hoped for this year, we’re more motivated than ever to push forward into 2025 with optimism and new ideas!
Four years ago, we started The Calculated Chemist because we were frustrated with the lack of serious, high-quality gifts for science and chemistry enthusiasts. Our mission has always been to create meaningful products that go beyond the typical “cheesy science pun” offerings.
While our glass Erlenmeyer flask tumblers have found a modest and loyal audience, we’ve learned so much from experience and your feedback. Some customers expressed concerns about drinking from authentic laboratory glass, even though it’s brand-new and accessorized with colorful silicone. And let’s face it—glass, as beautiful as it is, can be fragile and prone to damage during its journey or daily use.
That’s why we’re excited to announce our next big step: the first-of-its-kind stainless steel, double-wall vacuum-insulated Erlenmeyer Flask Tumbler! This innovative design will improve durability and functionality, giving science enthusiasts a sustainable way stay hydrated during their busy days —whether it’s at the lecture hall, laboratory, or in their office.
But here’s the thing: we can’t do it without YOUR support. As a small business, bringing this product to life requires a significant investment, including designing and fabricating a custom mold and meeting high minimum order requirements.
We’re thrilled to share that we’ll be launching a Kickstarter campaign on 3/1/25 to help make this dream a reality! The campaign will run for 45 days, and with your pre-sales and support, we’ll take the first steps toward production.
