This post is the last of a five-day challenge given by my mentor. She asked me my why—what is my why that keeps me going?
After a lot of thought, I realize my why isn’t wreaths.
My why is hope.
After losing my husband, I spent years doing what needed to be done. I managed responsibilities, closed a business, took care of rental properties, solved problems, and simply kept moving forward. Somewhere along the way, I lost touch with the creative part of myself.
Creating wreaths helped me find her again.
Door Whimsy became more than a business. It became proof that joy can return, purpose can be rediscovered, and beauty can grow from life’s most difficult seasons.
Today, I don’t just create wreaths. I create pieces that make people pause, smile, and feel something before they ever walk through the front door. I believe our homes should welcome people with warmth, personality, and joy, and I love knowing that something I’ve created becomes part of those everyday moments.
My mission is to build a business that inspires others to embrace creativity, find beauty in unexpected places, and remember that it’s never too late to begin again.
If someone sees one of my designs and smiles—or if my own journey gives someone hope that they can rebuild after loss—then I’ve accomplished far more than selling a wreath.
That’s my why.
