The globally mobile client has lived in enough places to know that home is not a location. It is a feeling. And they have been searching for a space that holds all of the versions of who they have become.

They have outgrown properties that looked right on paper. They have walked through beautifully finished homes and felt nothing. They have stayed in hotels that understood them better than their own living room.

What they are looking for is rarely in the brief they give you. It sits underneath. In the places they linger when they travel. In the textures they reach for without thinking. In the rituals they protect no matter which city they are in.

Designing for this client means understanding that their taste was not formed in one place. It was formed across many. And their home needs to hold all of it without forcing them to choose.

That is the work we do.

The specification is an investability signal, not a line-item cost.

The projects that perform commercially are the ones where design is treated as a strategic function from day one. Where the interior designer is at the table during feasibility, shaping the brief alongside the architect and the commercial team.

Every unit that feels generic erodes the buyer, the brand, the resale value, and the developer’s portfolio reputation.

The Bancroft project was designed to do the opposite. Structured brief. Buyer psychology researched. A specification built for commercial outcomes and for the humans occupying the space.

Sold ~10% above asking, off-plan. The builder’s bestselling residential scheme for two years straight.

The most consistently high-performing properties I have observed have something in common that no floor plan captures. They have a point of view. A specific cultural perspective that is present in the space, not as decoration, but as the foundation from which every decision was made. The investment thesis that holds its value longest is not the most expensive. It is the most specific.

Closing out the week with a throwback to our new build spa-inspired bathroom project from 2023. We reconfigured the floor plan so there was enough room for true rest and recovery to occur.

With the increase in clients requiring a wellness-led homes, I would like to think we were ahead of our time with this one!

Have a look through to see the evolution of the design and bathroom.

The primary bedroom is the most neglected room in most homes.

For someone whose schedule, cognitive load, and recovery demands are high, this is the room that should be designed with the most intention.

Most of the time, it receives the least.

This is what it needs. Save it.

Long before the technology we now depend on existed, African builders designed homes that cooled themselves.

The Yorùbá Agbo Ilé, the Moroccan Riad, the coral houses of the Swahili coast, the adobe of Djenné. All of them used thermal mass, evaporative cooling, airflow through orientation, and spatial arrangement to support how people actually lived, slept, recovered, and gathered. They were environmental systems, built without machines, and sustained across centuries because they worked.

When I talk about the science of space, this is what I mean. Spaces calibrated to the circadian rhythm, optimised for thermal comfort, designed around spatial psychology that supports both the individual and the community, with materials that respond to the lives occupying them.

These are ancient observations, now expressed in contemporary vocabulary.

The difference between a home that feels right and one that simply looks right is whether the space is actually working for you. That standard has always existed. What we are doing now is remembering it.

And the homes that get this right are the ones you never want to leave.

To complement the coastal kitchen, we designed this media wall inspired by the couple's love of the Floridian beaches. The wall's shape mimics the movement of water, creating a ripple effect reminiscent of waves. To achieve balance between the couple, the wall is divided into a bookshelf area for the wife’s reading corner and a media/TV area that is primarily used by the husband.

This media wall includes discreet push-to-open storage beneath a functional drawer, perfect for keeping remotes out of sight.

What key feature would you love to see in your living room?
