Design style: Modern Southwest, interpreted through minimalism.

Funny enough, creating a modern southwest-inspired home tucked away in the PNW ended up making perfect sense for this client.

This house tells such a story to me, which is probably why I love it so much. The client is incredibly well traveled, deeply appreciative of art and design, and had reached a point in life where he wanted to pare things down and live more simply. Every decision became about intention, keeping only what added meaning, function, or beauty (heyyy backlit island).

For the Colvos project, we designed around restraint, atmosphere, and quiet functionality. No upper cabinets. Integrated cabinet pulls. Two undercounter refrigerators instead of a traditional full-size fridge to preserve visual calm. Continuous microcement flooring carries onto the backsplash and shower walls, creating a seamless material palette throughout the home.

One of my favorite details is the recessed lighting integrated directly into the baseboards. At night, the house glows in this soft architectural way that feels subtle but incredibly grounding.

What keeps the home from feeling sterile is the contrast between the minimal architecture and the client’s personal collection pieces, artwork, sculptural cacti, and natural textures layered throughout the space. It feels like a desert modern home filtered through a Pacific Northwest lens.

A reminder that minimalism isn’t about emptiness. Sometimes it’s about making more room for the things that matter most.

I’ve always loved design, but it wasn’t until my first year of nursing school that I realized it was the path I was truly meant to pursue. Everything clicked from there.

I chose Team Aurora after transitioning from working for a general contractor, knowing it was time to fully pursue my design career. What drew me in was the heart behind this studio. Krissy built a small, intentional, and genuinely welcoming company devoted to creating spaces that feel personal and meaningful. The environment she’s cultivated is exactly where I wanted to grow as a designer, and I’m grateful to be part of this team.

I’m honored to be named one of NKBA’s 30 Under 30 this year. Here’s an honest and raw non-chat gpt post for you straight from my heart.
I’ve never been one to lead with my age- in fact I’ve hidden that as I haven’t wanted any accomplishments to be linked to being an accomplishment just because of my age but rather for the work itself and the passion. But today, I’m sharing this because everything I have done in my almost 9 year career (April 2026 will be 9 years!) I am proud of.
I started this journey at 18 after graduating early and getting my associates in interior design. I’ve worked hard and started from the bottom from being an associate in a tile showroom, to working for an architect, to working for a high end designer in Seattle before launching my business. I’ve always known what I’ve wanted and have big goals and dreams.
Opening my physical location last year took a lot of patience and was trying at times and was so huge to move my business from operating out of my house to a professional space to call home for my business.
I’m so grateful for this industry, my clients, my team , the mentors along the way and everything in between that got me to where I’m at today. You can read the article highlight on me on NKBA’s website 💕
