Renovating a home while growing a baby… because apparently I like doing everything at once. 😂🤰🏽🏠

This season has taught me A LOT—patience, letting go of what I can’t control, living with less, taking leaps of faith, choosing myself, giving my marriage more grace, and learning to enjoy the in-between instead of always waiting for the next thing.

Between a renovation, pregnancy, changing jobs, most of our belongings being in storage, and trying to still feel like me through all of it, I’ve realized that life doesn’t have to be perfectly put together to be really, really good.

Designing a nursery… like a coffee shop? 😂🐒

Hear me out. I want all the sweetness to come from the crib, the toys, the books, and all those little baby things. But the room itself? Give me personality. Give me stripes. Give me monkeys living their best jungle life.

Because baby Rafael is going to be the cool kid on the block, obviously. 😂🤎

Recessed lighting has been getting a lot of heat lately, but I think the real misconception is that we shouldn’t use it at all.

For me, good lighting is all about layers. Recessed lighting, sconces, picture lights, floor lamps, table lamps, wireless lamps—they all work together to create the mood and warmth of a room. And yes, everything on a dimmer. ✨

For this 1930s nursery, I want it to feel cozy and warm, but I also want to be able to turn the lights all the way up when I actually need them.

And a BIG thank you to my husband, Peter, for saving us $2,500 by adding and rewiring all the lighting in this nursery himself! 🙌

One month until baby and the nursery is coming together! 🤍

We pulled up the laminate and discovered PINE FLOORS underneath!! Such an exciting surprise and definitely not what we were expecting. They need a little love, but I’m so happy we decided to look underneath.

The wallpaper is officially chosen, the sconces are on their way, and we’re painting this weekend. Little by little, the vision is starting to come to life. ✨

One month to go… nothing like a little deadline to get things moving! 😂

One step closer to Rafael’s nursery. 💙 Before wallpaper, these walls needed to be primed, and I wanted to give Pete one less project to worry about. Thanks to , we got to enjoy some time together while the work got done.

Round one of the nursery wallpaper samples is officially here! 🎉

One thing I knew from the start—I wanted a wallpaper with a bit of texture. Since our home is older, the texture helps disguise little wall imperfections while adding so much character to the room.

I’m so glad I finally got these Photowall samples so I can review them in person. Seeing the colors, texture, and quality in real life makes such a difference before making a decision.

But we’re not done yet… Part 2 is coming with samples from another brand before we decide what’s right for baby Rafael’s nursery. 🤍

Growing a new life while rebuilding a home has been one of the sweetest and most special experiences Pete and I have shared together.

It has made me realize that, just like building a home, creating life takes patience, love, trust, and so much intention. As women, our bodies become the place where life begins, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop being amazed by that.

I feel so honored that baby Rafael chose me to be his mom. Every kick, every sonogram, and every little milestone has made me fall even more in love with this little boy I haven’t met yet.

Pregnancy has also given me a whole new appreciation for women. It’s incredible that we can continue showing up every day—working, building careers, taking care of our homes and the people we love—all while our bodies are quietly creating another human being. There’s something so powerful about that.

I’m feeling incredibly grateful, emotional, and excited for this next chapter with my amazing husband, Pete. Rafael, we already love you more than you’ll ever know. 🤍

A little house + baby update 🤍 We may not have the kitchen finished before baby arrives, but we’re focusing on progress, not perfection. Also… definitely recommend hiring out plaster and drywall finishing if you can. A smooth finish makes such a difference! ✨ Every room gets us one step closer to bringing our little one home. 🏡
