First full French lavender production run is bottled! 🌿
From 8.6 pounds of dry lavender, we collected 10 gallons total and bottled 9.5 gallons of beautifully fragrant lavender hydrosol. Two quarts from the beginning and end of the run were kept separate.
The golden layer in the separator is the oil-rich aromatic fraction settling out. It is not all pure essential oil, but it certainly makes for one heck of a photograph.
The real prize is in the bottles: clean, clear hydrosol with a wonderfully strong lavender aroma.

Today’s French lavender run is underway.
We fired the boiler at 8:25 AM, loaded the column with 13 bags of lavender at 300g each, and used racks between every bag to keep the steam moving evenly through the botanical bed.
This is the first real production run with the Lavender Cannon, and it is exactly why this equipment was built: clean steam, slow extraction, and small-batch lavender hydrosol made right here in Orlando.

Our first real French lavender run is underway.
The Cannon is loaded with 13 bags of French lavender, 300g each, for a total of 3.9 kg / 8.6 lb dry weight.
A rack sits between every bag so the steam can move cleanly and evenly through the column.
This setup started life as the Citrus Cannon, but today it earns its lavender stripes. 🪻⚙️

Lavender is on deck at Bay Hill Botanicals. 🪻⚙️
Today’s run is French lavender, weighed, bagged, and staged for steam distillation.

Each cloth bag is loaded with 300g of lavender and kept loose so the steam can move through the botanicals evenly.
No shortcuts, no mystery fragrance oils, just real botanical material, stainless steel, steam, and time.
The shop already smells incredible.

Today is the water run. Clamps, gaskets, condenser flow, steam path, collection rate, leak checks, and a full shakedown before tomorrow’s first lavender distillation.
Bay Hill Botanicals started with an idea, a few pieces of equipment, and a shoestring budget. Now we’re building a real botanical still house one smart piece at a time.
No h***h. No shortcuts.
Just steam, stainless, copper, and distilled botanical water.

Bay Hill Botanicals update:
The Citrus Cannon is officially past “step ladder” territory.
That 8" x 4' stainless spool has serious weight to it, and once it is sitting on the 65-gallon boiler, this thing stops looking like a test rig and starts looking like a small industrial botanical tower.
Lavender and citrus are going to have plenty of room to breathe in this beast. Now I just need rolling stairs to reach the top without turning setup day into an Olympic event.

The Citrus Cannon parts are starting to arrive, and this picture says it all.

That little copper column is 4 inches.
The stainless beast beside it is 8 inches.

That is not an upgrade. That is a personality change. 😂
Bay Hill Botanicals started with citrus peel, a crazy idea, and a shoestring budget. Now the production engine is getting serious: orange, lemon, lavender, stainless, copper, bottles, fustis, and a setup built one smart piece at a time.

Picked up what feels like 100 Cambros today for peel prep and production staging.
Okay, technically 19 square 22-quart Cambros, but after cleaning them all, I’m calling it 100.

These will be perfect for organizing citrus peel, staging larger runs, and keeping the Citrus Cannon fed as production keeps growing.
Cleaning time now. Monster peel loads later. 🍊🧼

That is 157.5 gallons of bottle capacity ready for Bay Hill Botanicals.

This next round of glass is for spa sprays, groomer finishing sprays, private label, and refill accounts as we continue building out the production side.
