We wanted to break down what a recent bathroom remodel looked like in Central Florida. This is a 245 sq ft full remodel where we re-imagined the bathroom to be an elegant haven and converted the bathtub to a walk in shower, a new vanity, flooring, lighting and all fixtures. It was one full week at their home and done with so much love and care.

We had one week and $1000 to completely furnish this house which meant we turned to Facebook Marketplace and thrift stores. Only rule was the mattresses and sheets had to be new. We met the worlds nicest people (and bought the worlds heaviest couch) in the process and it was really a faith in humanity restored kind of week.

Same room, same angle three weeks apart. We had $1000 and a dream to get this place fully furnished comfortably for our new tenants and we did it! We had some backbreaking labor, a few parking lot fights and met the world’s nicest people via Facebook Marketplace.

There’s something a little bit magical about marketplace. We kept saying how everyone we met was so kind and so helpful and it’s true. Some spoke our language, some didn’t, some were in homes and some in apartments, different backgrounds and beliefs and everyone was happy to help in carrying ridiculously heavy things across a parking lot as a uniting force.

$1,000 and the only things we bought new were mattresses (because, ew), sheets (again, ew), towels (ditto) and silverware (because we couldn’t find it at goodwill).
