Tara Rozenboom Design

Tara Rozenboom Design Residential & Commercial Design Hi, I’m Tara Rozenboom, the owner of Tara Rozenboom Design, based in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Let’s create something beautiful together!

As an Interior Designer, I specialize in creating beautiful and functional spaces that reflect my clients’ unique styles while adding my signature "Tara Twist." I love using bold colors and layering patterns to bring character and depth to every design. I focus on kitchen and bathroom design, but I also work on entire homes, whether it’s a remodel or new construction. From countertops and flooring

to cabinetry and hardware, I carefully select every element to ensure a cohesive, polished result. My goal is to create spaces that feel personal, welcoming, and perfectly tailored to you. Collaboration is at the heart of my process. I take the time to understand your vision and work with you every step of the way. Using SketchUp, I create detailed layouts so you can clearly see how your space will come together before any work begins. I also make sure you have access to the best materials and finishes, guiding you to choices that fit your style and needs. Designing homes is more than just my job—it’s my passion. I want every space I create to be as unique and special as the people who live there. Whether you’re updating a single room or designing your dream home, I’m here to help you bring your vision to life.

Design Peek: Primary Bathroom
Sharing a little behind-the-scenes of a home I’ve been working on — this sketch is of the primary bathroom.
It has two pocket doors (one from the bedroom and one into the walk-in closet… and yes, the closet deserves its own moment later 😉). The bathroom itself is layered and luxe with a 12×12 tan and white marble floor, travertine tile on the shower and walls, and a walk-in shower with double shower heads (you’re seeing just one side here). There’s also a long niche shelf planned in the shower for both function and style.
This space is all about warmth, texture, and that calm spa feeling — can’t wait to bring it to life
Stay tuned for the closet next week.

Another peek at this home I’m designing.
The bookshelves are coming together beautifully, and while the jury is still out on the green furniture… I’m a fan 😏 so this is where we’re starting. And let’s be honest—everyone needs a good leather sectional, right?!

This kitchen has been such a fun one to plan!
Wood cabinets, square green tile, and gorgeous quartzite countertops set the tone, while paneled appliances keep everything feeling seamless. The walk-in pantry is hidden behind the right pantry doors, and that dual oven range? Definitely a standout. It's all in the details.

✨ Big day in Kirksville, Missouri!
This morning, cabinets arrived at Steve & Nancy’s home.
Steve, Nancy and I have been planning this kitchen/laundry remodel since spring and they have wanted a new kitchen for 26 years. Their new kitchen is finally becoming reality.

Their custom cabinet color is called Driftwood—and funnily enough, their dog’s name is Drift—so it felt like the perfect fit for their home. 😊

I’m so grateful they’ve trusted me to walk alongside them on this journey. Moments like these are why I love design—watching long-awaited dreams come to life in a home.
📸 Pictured here are Nancy, David the contractor, and myself—Steve was already in work mode and not outside with us.

I haven’t been taking as many pictures lately, but today I snapped a few of some exciting progress—bathrooms and kitchens in the framing stage! It’s always rewarding to see the vision start to take shape.

🎓 Weekend #6 of Continuing Education! 🖥️📐

Seventeen years ago, I first learned the design software I use every day. This year, I made a commitment to go back to the classroom—diving deep into the updates, new features, and tools like Layout to sharpen my skills and stay at the forefront of design technology.

Next up: mastering Enscape, a powerful plug-in that brings drawings even more realistic than what I have offered in the past.

While much of what we’re learning in class is familiar, I’m discovering tools and shortcuts I didn’t know existed—tools that will make my work more efficient and elevate the plans I present to clients and contractors. It’s all about improving communication, streamlining quoting, and making sure everyone involved in a remodel or new construction is working from the same clear, cohesive vision.

As the bike trail passes my house, I see you out there enjoying the sunshine—I’m looking out the window and planning to be on it soon. Give me a wave as you ride by… I’ll be cheering you on with bubbler in one hand and coursework in the other! 🚴‍♀️

Beau is patiently waiting for us to get outside and enjoy the sunshine—and occasionally stretches out across the keyboard to let me know it’s break time. ☀️🐾💻
