The photo of the blonde early 50s probably, console with table top and radio, tubes, is similar to the one I have in the store that’s for sale. It worked when we brought it in and maybe the tubes got josteled a bit too much.
I can’t seem to turn it on now.
And I can’t see the photos I just selected so hard to remember to do the description as well or quickly. Oh I think two little oil cans that just came into the store probably late 40s early 50s. And… Yeah that’s all I can remember right now. Anyway a few photos and if this works -next time, I’ll take notes when I select the photos!!!

😎OPEN SATURDAY/ AUGUST 15TH

Also visit Farmers Market, two restaurants, MEZZO Coffee, HARVEST on the corner (missing some, not sure about the east block, and I hope I haven’t missed anyone on the West block.
But FUN to be downtown Saturday mornings. I may miss the 22nd, but hope to open on the 29th and then ….
SUNDAY AUGUST 30th for the (next to last) Allegan Antiques Fairgrounds market of the season.
ALSO, any of Mrs. Newman‘s former Art students at OMS and OHS, stop in and see if any of your former artwork is sitting in a pile she couldn’t bear to throw away. Also browse through lots of snapshots from the time you were in school there. Mostly group shots, so take a photo of it with your phone!
Also some photos of students playing basketball, other school activities.
The building is UP FOR SALE, and hope to find good owners, might remain an Antiques Mall and gain vendors again, or if not, just hoping to have someone purchase it that will benefit the community, be able to be OPEN again much more than I’ve been able to.

Take a look at all the photos as you can see right now no signage on our building, waiting to sell it to the right people, hopefully owners who would have some kind of retail or anything good for downtown that would bring more people to our streets
I realize we sure don’t have the retail in town that we used to have. But that’s pretty true across all small towns. Some of you longtime residence might remember the Skogmo department store which we changed to Newman‘s department store when we bought it in 1976.
I love being in the store….now with the antiques and collectibles and in the back… Some building components some vintage lawnmowers etc.
And I keep adding some new things, have Vintage Clothing which needs to be put on hangers and priced. 🙂
I am truly appreciative of all of you that came through the store last Saturday. It was so much fun for me to see some of my former public school students from Otsego, people I’ve known for a long time, plus often times children or grandchildren of friends I have had for years. Fills me with joy❤️

Would love to sell this lovely building to a younger entrepreneur before winter
We’ll see if I can post that picture, a lot has changed on my ability to easily create posts on this page recently. Not sure if it’s updates from Meta or something to do with AI, but I’m having more difficulty posting in the right place and using photos, etc.
Back to selling the building, inspector for the city has been through the whole thing including the basement and almost 7500 ft.² on the main floor, insured me that if a new person came in with a business similar to this could be different merchandise but same business plan, not adding new bathrooms, not adding a kitchen or anything like that, they would be grandfathered in and be able to come in the day after they own it and open the doors.
Have talked to several people lately that love this building, would love to come in and run a business from it, but don’t have the ability to get the funds at this time. I agree there’s a lot of uncertainty right now in our country. I’m thinking if some of those people could get together or if anyone reading this has Two or three friends or relatives that they feel would be good business partners, would be great to see a co-op developed that could come in and purchase the building. Talk to your friends, think about it always keep your mind open to possibilities in whatever you’re doing through life. 🥰

Also, would love to sell this building with or without merchandise and fixtures, before winter. If any of you have ideas or know people who would be in a situation to want to turn this back into a mall with lots of dealers, and young enough to keep it open on a regular basis, please call the store number 269-694-6440, or better yet, instant message me on this page.
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to do something like this and have two or three close friends or relatives that you think would be good partners and several of you could form a co-op and do it together.
Even if you kept most of my merchandise and fixtures, it would be very easy to condense all of that and open up space for at least 10 to 15 booths right away.
It’s such a perfect location for this kind of a business! I think my father and mother-in-law, Howard and Hazel Newman for changing the storefront from three separate buildings with doors, two one big entrance area with all those wonderful windows across the front. Those windows are the best advertisement with so much traffic on 89. When we were a department store we also use the Community Shoppers Guide Almost every week and that was great for us as well.
Anyway I think it over I’ve had this city building inspector through the building who said if somebody came in and did Direct selling like I’m doing wouldn’t have to be antiques and collectibles, but they would be grandfathered in as long as they didn’t feel they had to add new bathrooms or a kitchen or other big changes like that.
I just painted a for sale sign and put on one of the windows a week ago. I’ll see if I can add it here. Again I’m getting a @ sign on the lower right part of the screen . But don’t see any opportunity to put a color in or change the text style, so something has changed that I am not knowledgeable enough to remedy. 🤔
