Artisan Cocktails have grown at an amazing rate. Restaurants offer uniquely created beverages at premium pricing. Artisan cocktails have also become popular for home entertaining. Foodies appreciate the flavor, cleverness, and experiences these cocktails provide. The focus of these drinks is not to consume large amounts of alcohol but to experience the unexpected flavors, beautiful colors, and eye-catching presentation of these delicious cocktails with flavors coming from the garden. These foodies learned some basic techniques they could use with things grown in their own gardens. How-tos were discussed for ten unique garden cocktails and of course, they got to sample the Elderberry Ecstasty along with nibbles and dessert. You might just want to sign up when we have this session again in our spring program!

September is our wreath-making time. Last night we created Autumn-into-Winter
wreaths that start out serving during autumn and then with a quick makeover, can serve as a wreath for your holiday decor. These are permanent wreaths and will last for years, used inside or out.

Had to steal away for a day to St. Louis. The Missouri Botanical Garden is featuring a fantastic Chihuly in the Garden installation for the rest of this month. Tickets are just $20. You can view it by day which is wonderful, but the night session is simply magic. The installers did a fantastic job integrating plant forms and colors with these magnificent pieces. This show will definitely make you HAPPY!

During the month of September, we are featuring several sessions of AUTUMN INTO WINTER wreath-making as part of our Fall Creative Workshop Program. Wreaths hold a special place at FTSG as they were the first thing we made from our garden, thus the green wreath in our logo. Back then, before everyone had allergies, we made wreaths from everything we grew. Today, because of sensitive noses, nothing is real. We use permanent botanicals but they have improved miraculously through the years so that you can mix them with real flowers and you cannot tell the difference.
In this workshop, you will make an autumn-into-winter wreath for your door or mantle. Choose from a selection of permanent botanicals to make your own unique autumn wreath. Because of this, it can go inside or out and won't make a mess. When the wreath is made we include some wintry items and once autumn has passed certain pieces are removed and replaced with holiday botanicals so you can continue to use the wreath throughout the holiday season into winter.

The long-time standard, Better Homes and Gardens has gone through a makeover, and at its editorial helm is Stephen Orr, a successful higher-brow luxury magazine editor. BH&G is one of my favorite idea magazines and Stepehn has kicked it up a few notches. His opening editorials are compelling, put the focus on others, and are always enlightening. In this month's issue with Drew Barrymore on the cover, he discusses Spheres of Influence and the importance of finding a creative tribe that gives you a foundation to build upon- something fulfilling artistically.

I truly believe the artists at From the Summer's Garden are a perfect example of this creative tribe- inspiring and supportive, working together to make it our happy place. We like to share this experience with our customers by establishing a creative tribe through our robust program of creative workshops and studios.
