TapaJar™ Journey Note #5

TAPAJAR PRODUCT NOTES:

Once I had put together a rough prototype, I knew the next step on this journey was to take things up a notch. It was time to seek out a professional who could transform my early ideas into detailed drawings—something I needed before moving forward with 3D printing and creating a functional prototype we could actually put to the test.

While searching for ways to bring my vision to life, I discovered Fiverr—a platform based in Israel that connects freelancers and clients from all corners of the globe. It’s a great way to find talent for specific projects and manage costs along the way. My journey led me to a mechanical engineer in North Macedonia, just below Greece. He lived with his wife and young children in a modest apartment, and his dedication truly impressed me. Though we faced a few minor communication hurdles at first, I learned to ask more precise questions, and together, we started moving forward with the project.
I located a commercial 3D printing company about an hour away from me and quickly became educated on the type of files and drawings required for the prototype verse the drawings required for filing a patent application that I should request from the engineer. After several iterations we came up with the attached working prototype. I had never filed a patent before or had anything 3D printed.
Not long after, I found a commercial 3D printing company just an hour’s drive from home. As I started working with them, I quickly realized that creating a prototype required a different set of files and drawings than those needed for a patent application. That meant going back to my engineer and asking for specific designs tailored for each purpose. There were plenty of back-and-forths, and with each revision, we got closer to something I could actually hold in my hands. Before this experience, I’d never filed a patent or seen anything brought to life through 3D printing—it was all new territory, but incredibly challenging.
As our adventure unfolded, we reached a pivotal moment—the unveiling of both our patent drawings and the very first working prototype. These images represent not just a vision made real, but countless hours of determination, creativity, and collaboration. Each sketch and each piece of the prototype is a testament to the journey we’ve traveled, from rough ideas to tangible innovation.

Hello,

Let us ask you something.

The last time you ate a salad from a restaurant, did you know exactly what went into the dressing? Who touched the bottle before you? Whether the serving spoon had been used on something you're allergic to?

If you have celiac disease, a food allergy, or simply refuse to eat things you can't verify — you already know the answer. Every meal outside your own kitchen is a calculated risk.

We built TapaJar because we got tired of that risk.

TapaJar is the world's first jar with a rotating lid that lets you drip dressing in without opening the container. You control your ingredients. You control the portions. You decide when to release the sauce, the dip, the toppings — and nothing touches your food until you say so.

No cross-contamination. No soggy salad. No more "I hope this is safe."

We're launching on Kickstarter soon, and you're already on the inside. Over the next two weeks, we'll be sharing exactly how TapaJar works, what early backers get, and why hundreds of people with celiac disease and food allergies are calling it the jar they've always needed.

For now — we're glad you're here.

Warmly,
The TapaJar Team

P.S. — 5% of every TapaJar sold goes directly to oligodendroglioma brain tumor research. We're not just building a better jar. We're building something that matters.
Know someone with celiac disease or a food allergy who would love this? Forward this email — they'll thank you for it.

TapaJar™ Journey Note #4

Thank you to all of you who read and reacted to TapaJar postings #1, #2, #3

TAPAJAR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT NOTES: I described the beginning of the journey in posting #3. I have taken a step back and began sharing how and why the TapaJar™ idea first came about.

It all started when I realized my salads were getting soggy in the jars I was trying to recycle. I began researching online to see if there was a fix, or if anyone else who prepped salads in jars had already solved the problem. What I found were countless YouTube influencers making salads in jars, struggling with the same issue. That’s when I began brainstorming and sketching out possible solutions. The attached photos show my first sketches and prototypes, capturing those early ideas as I tried to move forward.

PROBLEM: Keep the dressing separate from the salad in a jar ready for use when needed.
Based on research I defined my goal, which was to design a compartmentalized lid that allowed the user to load dressing into. I wanted the lid to then attach to the jar and release the dressing into the jar whenever they wanted—all while the lid remained securely fastened.

The ultimate goal is to enjoy the journey and learn. If you are interested in learning more, and following our journey like give us a thumbs up, and go to our website to sign up for our updates.

TapaJar™ Journey Note #3

TAPAJAR PRODUCT NOTES: I am going to regress a little and start with why and how the TapaJar™ idea originated.

I had just finished making pasta with my favorite CLASSICO™ Spicy Red Pepper pasta sauce. I loved how the square jar fit my hand. Since I hate letting anything go to waste, I decided to save the jar and use it as a drinking glass.

The ATLAS MASON jar has markings on it that show the ounces 4OZS, 8OZ, 12OZS, 16OZS on the side of the jar that also make it a wonderful measuring cup when in a pinch. I kept the lid; and discovered that I could also use it to store dry beans in , or for grab-n-go meals or snacks when I am fishing or on road trips. It is either disposable, recyclable and washable.

• Historical Acquisitions: Hazel-Atlas was taken over by Continental Can Company in 1956, which was then acquired by Brockway Glass in 1964. Owens-Illinois later bought out Brockway in 1987.
• Current Usage (Classico): The "Atlas Mason" name found on current Classico pasta sauce jars is used by Kraft Heinz, which owns the Classico brand. These are considered commercial jars and are not intended for home canning.
