Twenty years ago, The Victorian Parlor opened its doors in downtown Paducah.

Over the years, we've been blessed to meet so many wonderful people, hear so many stories, and help countless treasures find new homes. We are truly grateful for the support, friendships, and memories that have made these 20 years possible.

CURATED & CURIOUS TUESDAY:
From Parisian High Society to the Bluegrass State 🐎

We see a lot of horse racing history here in Kentucky, but look at how they got their racing fix across the pond 120 years ago!

This just landed in our display case: an exceptionally rare, museum-quality circa 1900 "Jeu de Course" mechanical horse race game. It was handcrafted in Paris, France by the famous premier toy makers M.J. & Cie, well known for making high-end, luxury toys at the turn of the century.

It features beautifully detailed, hand-painted lead horses and jockeys on a three-lane track. You pull the heavy, ornate silver lever on the front (embossed with the maker’s mark), and the horses spin independently on a hidden mechanical wheel. The horse that stops closest to the finishing post without crossing the line wins!

It has survived over a century, is incredibly clean, retains its vibrant color, and the mechanics still have that satisfying old-school click.

Look closely at the photo. We’ve got Horse #6 and Horse #8 neck-and-neck! If you were placing your bets in a Victorian parlor, which number would you put money on? Drop your guess in the comments!
