Folks this is a link from my blog about Memorial Day and what it means to me, it is not very long so give it a few minutes of your time. Many people believe Memorial Day is another day set aside to honor and remember our veterans, this is not that day. Even though many veterans do appreciate you recognizing them and saying thank you for their service many will remind you what this day is actually for. Memorial Day is the day set aside to remember the fallen military who gave their life for our great country, but more so than that, for the freedoms we have in this country. Whether on foreign land or our own, they gave their life for the freedoms we have. They gave their lives for the American people so they could choose whether they would support our country or not, so they could choose to disrespect our country, our flag and our military or not. They gave their lives so the American people could continue to live in the greatest country on this earth. There is not another country that affords the freedoms we possess, there is not another country that people choose to migrate to in some way or another to possess the freedoms our military has died for. Our military may not have agreed with mine or your way of thinking but they did feel the freedom for us to choose was worth the cost if it was called of them. For many that day did come, looking at our country and the shape it is in now, have our men and women died in vain? This country can become the respected nation it once was but it has to start with us, the American people caring enough about our freedoms and remembering the fallen and why. I hope everyone has a good Memorial Day weekend and I pray that everyone will take time out of their busy day to remember the fallen.
Memorial Day, what does it mean to you? Does it mean a day to honor and remember our fallen heroes? Freedom, a free gift with an extreme cost.
