The installation is underway. There's a lot to do but it's so exciting, and a huge thrill to get started on The ValleRy IRL.

The Blick Studio (Czechia), The General Pencil Company (USA), and the Staedtler Mars Lumograph (Germany).

So .... They are all good but better at different tasks. The Staedtler has an amazing pressure range, the General was good for pretty much everything and the Blick had a tidier line, a little 'harder' for the same clay/graphite 2B mix. I've always preferred the Staedtler but now I am much more willing to use the 2 others and in fact found a few Generals in one of my drawing boxes. It was the first time I had ever used a Blick, what a great 'workhorse'.

Wonderful trip out to Friends of Avi Kwa Ame National Monument and Walking Box Ranch to see the Mojave Shadows exhibition by Steve Dudrow and friends. It's about an hour from Las Vegas but in every sense it feels like a million miles. There's Joshua trees everywhere, lizards and ants scurry along the paths, and it's quiet. It's an amazing old ranch house from the 1930s and it's a perfect location for the photographs, nature journals and drawings on display. Check Walking Box Ranch Walking Box Ranch for opening times. You can see the ranch from the outside anytime but check times if you want to see inside.

I was amazed by this slot machine. If you watch, the number of people at the gates increases when you get a wild symbol. I'm not a slot machine player but this got me, I found myself putting another $10 in just to see the people arrive, dance, put their hands in the air. Amazing 🤩 Caesars Palace I thought it was different and pretty cool 😎 Please, no judging 🧐
