Corn Sweat! 🌽💧

Every summer when it gets hot and humid, you may hear a lot of talk revolving around corn sweat. What exactly is it, why does it happen, and how does it affect us...🤔

✔️Corn is similar to humans, in that a large part of it's composition is water based.
✔️Also similar to humans, when the temperatures rise and the corn plant temperatures increase, the plant will sweat to help regulate temperature and protect itself against damage.
✔️One acre of corn can release 3,000-4,000 gallons of water per day, via evapotranspiration!
✔️When the corn sweat evaporates and is released into the atmosphere, this causes moisture levels (dew points) to increase.
✔️When hot temperatures conditions are in place, with the increased moisture levels due to the corn sweat/evapotranspiration process, this causes heat index values to become oppressive...often times well over 100°!
