I finished another shohin bonsai display today. Made of sapele (African mahogany) this time. My favorite feature of sapele is the checkering pattern that quartersawn or the sides of flat sawn pieces show. Maple and cherry will also display a similar checker pattern but inconsistently compared to its seemingly omnipresence in sapele. Well that is in my experience anyway..

Bonsai Displays… these are some of the small tables and stands that I have made and sold for bonsai and their accent plants. They require a lot of fine work and small details but I enjoy the merging of creativity and practicality when coming up with different designs.

Im excited to say I’ll be at Studio 42 Melbourne on saturday for this month’s “Meet the Maker” event. I’ll have products for sale as well as some of my larger works on display. There will be plenty of options for nice handcrafted holiday gifts. I hope to see you there!
