On the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, it is believed that the King of Poverty visits to assess the tidiness of one's home. If the home is not tidy, he will stay with you for the entire year. Therefore, today marks the day to resume household chores such as sweeping, mopping, and laundry after five days of festivities, ensuring he does not stay.

Are you ready to usher in a prosperous Lunar New Year by rolling gold into your home?

In the traditional "rolling in the gold" ritual, you typically leave the oranges on the floor for at least 24 hours to allow the prosperity and "gold" energy to settle.

However, timelines can vary

Standard Practice (3 Days): Many families leave the oranges for the first three days of the New Year, as these are the primary days for visiting and welcoming luck.

The "Cleaning" Rule (Until Day 5 or 6): Traditional taboos forbid sweeping or cleaning for the first few days to avoid "sweeping away" luck. Oranges are often left until the 5th day, when cleaning is finally permitted to expel "poverty".

Extended Celebration (15 Days): For maximum auspiciousness, some practitioners leave the oranges visible (either on the floor or moved to a central display bowl) until the Lantern Festival on the 15th day, which marks the end of the celebrations.

Important Tip: When you do pick them up, the tradition is to eat them or create Orange juice to drink so this symbolizes internalizing the wealth and good fortune you rolled into your home.

17th February β€’ Lunar New Year πŸ’«

Lunar New Year isn't about constraints; it's a moment to breathe, reflect, and renew. As the cycle begins anew, let's move forward with intention and purpose.

Cultures around the world have long honored this day with gentle reverence: softer steps, thoughtful words, and a focus on harmony over control.

Some people mark the occasion with simple rituals:
1. Clothing: Wearing red for protection and good fortune.
2. No hair washing: Embracing abundance and letting it flourish.
3. No arguments: Fostering peace and understanding.
4. Handle with care: Every action sets the tone for unity and growth.
5. Mindful spending: Setting a positive precedent for the year ahead.
6. Leave the cleaning: Letting go of what's past, and embracing the new.
7. No haircuts: Nourishing growth and prosperity.

These practices aren't about fear or restriction; they're opportunities to set intentions.

How will you shape your year? With clarity and purpose, or scattered energy? Will you move forward with grounded intention, or let life unfold reactively?

Lunar New Year invites us to step into the next chapter with presence, care, and a sense of possibility.
