Two of our favorite arbiters of taste and living beautifully, interior designer Charlotte Moss and FLOWER magazine found...
08/29/2026

Two of our favorite arbiters of taste and living beautifully, interior designer Charlotte Moss and FLOWER magazine founder Margot Shaw, are coming together in Richmond this October for An Afternoon on Beauty, a celebration of interiors, gardens, flowers, and the art of living well.

The October 9th festivities begin at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, where Charlotte and Margot will sit down for a conversation celebrating their latest books: Charlotte’s forthcoming Charlotte Moss: At Home in Virginia and Margot’s Flowering Outdoors: Gardens & Parties, which came out earlier this year. Then, the evening moves to the magnificent Branch Museum for cocktails and an exclusive benefit dinner with the two design doyennes as guests of honor.

For Charlotte, a Richmond native, the occasion is something of a homecoming, and an especially fitting one as her new book offers a deeply personal look inside her own Virginia house and garden. Margot, meanwhile, has spent nearly two decades at the helm of FLOWER, championing the very things we hold dear: gracious rooms, glorious gardens, beautiful tables, and, of course, flowers.

Two fabulous new books, two women who know a thing or two about living beautifully, and an autumn afternoon in Virginia devoted entirely to beauty? We can hardly think of a better way to spend a Thursday. And consider this just a little taste of what’s to come. Stay tuned as we delve deeper into Charlotte’s new book and the wonderfully layered world behind its pages, with plenty more Charlotte Moss to come.

If these walls could talk! The storied country home of Lady Annabelle Goldsmith, the late English socialite, author and political activist for whom the famous Annabel's is named, is currently listed with UK Sotheby's International Realty, and we are in love! Ormeley Lodge is a magnificent Grade II Queen Anne manor house nestled within 2.3 acres just ten miles southwest of central London in Ham. For more than five decades, Lady Annabelle entertained everyone from politicians to Hollywood stars to royalty, including Princess Diana who was a frequent guest along with Princes William and Harry.

Dating to the early 1700s, the residence blends Queen Anne and early Georgian architecture across nearly 15,800 square feet. Embodying both English Baroque and Classical elements, the house includes 10 bedrooms and seven bathrooms, with soaring ceilings, original fireplaces, intricate moldings, and carefully preserved oversized sash windows. The interiors, decorated by the legendary Colefax and Fowler in the 1980s, remain timeless to this day and the epitome of classic English Country Style.

Take a peek inside “The Nature Of Decorating: Interiors Inspired By The Natural World” by Jenny Rose-Innes today at !

As an expert with years of experience in decorating, renovating, and building homes, Jenny Rose-Innes shares her unique insights on how to bring the outside in, creating spaces that enhance our connection to nature in her latest book The Nature of Decorating: Interiors Inspired by the Natural World. The book is both inspirational and practical, featuring stunning images of Jenny’s own home and garden, along with tips and advice from her extensive career.

“Gardens and interiors – and their design – are my two great loves,” Jenny says in the book’s introduction. “Although never formally trained in either, I was able to celebrate both Australian and British design in my two previous books. With this third book, I wanted to continue my celebration of both gardens and interiors by turning the focus on nature. Using my own house and garden as a framework seemed to be the best way to do this, as my love of, and respect for, nature has been at the forefront of most decisions I have made in relation to their design.”

At Home in Australia with Jenny Rose-Innes ✨

Author Jenny Rose-Innes developed a passion for beautiful homes and gardens as a child. Growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa, Jenny’s family spent holidays at her grandparents’ beautiful old Victorian farmhouse in the Eastern Cape and their beach house shack where she was surrounded by gingham, faded florals, disparate collections of furniture and artwork, shells, plants and flowers.

Encouraged by her mother, she was also introduced to English literature and quickly developed a deep love for the English countryside. As a newlywed, Jenny subscribed to British magazines, which would take months to arrive by boat, and served as her introduction to English houses and the work of designers such as Colefax and Fowler.

Jenny emigrated with her family to Australia 20 years ago. With a shared passion for interior design and gardening, she and her husband, Michael, have renovated many properties both in South Africa and in Australia.

Today, we get to know more about Jenny as she takes us inside her beautiful home in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia, as featured in her new book, “The Nature of Decorating: Interiors Inspired by the Natural World”. And stay tuned, as next week we will be featuring homes and gardens that influenced Jenny, also featured in this book, including Butter Wakefield, Cath Kidston and Sean Anthony Pritchard.
