Hooked yet? 🎣🦆

These vintage Folk Art portraits capture the poetry of the outdoors — and the unmistakable character of old-school American sporting tradition.

Weathered wooden printer block trays. Hand-painted oils. Bold, graphic compositions.
The kind of rustic, lodge-inspired Americana you rarely encounter — and almost never in matched form.

One panel, titled “On the Wing,” depicts a duck hunter watching ducks overhead, bow drawn and shotgun in hand.
The companion piece, “Tying the Fly,” portrays a fisherman with rod and reel, basket at his side, preparing his next cast.

Striking. Authentic. Collectible.
A true statement for a curated interior — whether layered into a lodge aesthetic, eclectic Palm Springs design, or a serious Folk Art collection.

Now available:

Dan Shupe (American, 1935–2020)
A leading voice in modern Neo-Expressionism

Born in Colorado and raised in Venice Beach, California, Dan Shupe began sculpting at an early age and was deeply influenced by Mexican folk art through frequent travels. His formal studies with Franz Kline at the Philadelphia Museum of Art helped shape a bold, confident visual language.

In the final decades of his career, Shupe emerged as a defining figure in Neo-Expressionism, channeling the emotional intensity and figurative strength of the 1920s–30s modernists. His work is powerful, elegant, and unmistakably human.

Shupe’s paintings are held in prominent private collections, including Whoopi Goldberg, Brooke Shields, Anthony Hopkins, Chita Rivera, and Michelle Pfeiffer, underscoring his lasting influence and collectability.

ROY LICHTENSTEIN — “As I Opened Fire” (Triptych), ca. 1964

Pop Art. Bold. Explosive.

Internationally celebrated as a pioneer of the Pop Art movement, Roy Lichtenstein transformed comic-book frames into museum-level fine art. Before becoming one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Lichtenstein served in the U.S. Army, including time in Europe during WWII. The visual language of wartime aircraft, comic-style action, and rapid-fire imagery directly influenced works like this one.

“As I Opened Fire” is a dramatic triptych offset lithograph, published by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in 1964. Printed in an edition of approximately 3,140, this is one of the most recognizable Pop Art works ever released by a museum.

Lichtenstein’s signature Ben-Day dots, cropped cinematic frames, and explosive text freeze a moment of action—inviting the viewer to question mass media, heroism, and how we consume images of war.

Because of its bold graphic aesthetic, vivid colour palette, and historical significance, this work (and its print editions) makes a strong statement in contemporary interiors or galleries — especially where Pop Art heritage is prized.

Framed size: 34” × 77” — perfect for a dramatic Palm Springs wall.

🎨 LEON SAULTER (1908–1986)
Polish-American | Modernist | Sculptor | Painter | Poet

Bold, emotional, and deeply modern — this rare 1985 oil on Masonite by Leon Saulter, titled “Untitled (Two Abstract Figures)”, captures the raw expressiveness of a WPA-era master in his final year of life. Measuring 48” x 36”, this striking work comes directly from the artist’s estate.

Born in Wilno, Poland, and later based in Los Angeles, Saulter was a nationally recognized sculptor, painter, and poet, active in the Federal Art Project (WPA) during the Great Depression. His influence extended from LACMA to Santa Barbara Museum of Art to the elite galleries of New York.

📍Saulter’s studio once stood on Robertson Blvd — now the site of The Ivy — where collectors and Hollywood elite were first introduced to his timeless creations. His sculptures grace universities, banks, and public institutions across the country, and his papers are housed at the Smithsonian.

🖼️ His legacy lives on in the collections of UCLA, Occidental College, LACMA, and beyond. Featured in Who Was Who in American Art, The Artists Bluebook, and Davenport’s, Saulter remains a vital name in American modernism.

✨ This is a rare opportunity to acquire an original work by a listed and museum-exhibited WPA artist. DM for inquiries or to view.
