Earlier this year, I took a well-deserved break from Mr. Call Designs. It was a chance to recharge and gain some fresh perspective, a sort of sabbatical. Three months in, I'm finally starting to feel rested and rebooted.
When I launched Mr. Call Designs, it was a true reflection of who I was – a New Yorker in my thirties. It was a blast, and I wouldn't trade those experiences. But as I enter my fifties on the West Coast, I realize I've outgrown the business I built.
One of the biggest challenges for solo entrepreneurs is scaling a business for financial stability. Like many contractors, I've found that project-to-project hustling can be lucrative, but it can also feel precarious. The truth is, I'm not where I want to be financially, and the work doesn't challenge me in the same way it did twenty years ago. There's a deeper purpose I'm yearning for.
So, I'm taking a step back to define the next chapter. I recognize this is a privilege, and one I've earned through years of hard work. I want to chart a course that's both fulfilling and financially rewarding.
Interior design will always be a passion, but I want to use it to create a happy and rewarding life for others AND myself.
This is my life update! Mr. Call is officially on a break, and I'm excited to share future projects and endeavors with you all – whenever that may be
