It’s a sad day to see this LA staple closing its doors after 116 years. It brings back so many memories.
Before we were interior designers, we were furniture makers, and so many of those pieces began with wood from Bohnhoff Lumber.
I still remember our first trip there and being in awe that a place like it existed in LA.
Some of you have followed us since then and some of you still have pieces we made in your homes today. That time taught us so much about craftsmanship and eventually led us to where we are now.
As furniture has become cheaper and faster to mass produce, places that support custom, handmade work have become harder to find. It’s incredibly sad to see such an important part of this industry disappear.
Here’s a little trip down memory lane to the days that started it all for us. Bohnhoff was such a meaningful part of that time, and seeing it close truly feels like the end of an era.
