Paint color feels like it should be the easy decision, which is probably why it’s one of the easiest to get wrong.

Color does so much more than decorate a room. It sets the mood.

A white that’s too bright can suddenly feel cold. A dark shade in the wrong light can make a room feel heavy. And sometimes that soft blue, muted green, or warmer neutral is exactly what a space needs to make you exhale when you walk in.

And if you know me, you know I’m certainly not suggesting that a “calm” home has to be beige. I love color. It just needs to be chosen on purpose and with your home’s natural light, surroundings, and overall feeling in mind.

This is one of the ways I think about creating homes that don’t just look beautiful, but actually feel good to live in.

Hard to believe that was our last fall UGA parents weekend! We definitely went out with a BANG!

A closer look at this shower and tub!

I love a bathroom that feels beautiful without trying too hard, and this one is all about those quiet details. Classic white tile, marble, polished fixtures, and warm wood floors create a timeless foundation, while the built-in tub and glass shower keep everything feeling open, light, and connected.

It’s simple, but definitely not boring. And sometimes those are my favorite spaces to design.

There’s a reason some rooms make you exhale the second you walk into them. 🌿

Natural light, greenery, and materials like wood, linen, and stone do more than make a space beautiful. They bring a little bit of the outdoors in and can actually help a home feel calmer and less sterile.

It’s something I think about constantly when designing. Where can we protect the natural light? Where can we choose real texture over something synthetic? Where does a room need a little warmth or life?

And sometimes, creating a calmer home is as simple as opening up the windows, adding something green, and letting the materials do the talking.

I didn’t become an interior designer because I wanted to pick pretty furniture all day. (Although I certainly don’t mind that part. 😉)

I became a designer because I love the moment when a house finally starts to feel like home, when the layout makes sense, the rooms work for the way you actually live, and all those decisions that once felt overwhelming suddenly feel effortless.

Another blank space that just needed a little purpose and personality.

We turned this bright corner into a home office that feels like somewhere you’d actually want to sit down and get some work done. A simple white desk keeps things light, while the vintage-inspired rattan chair, natural textures, and small pops of pink add warmth and character.

And with all that natural light streaming in? We knew we didn’t need to overcomplicate it.

Sometimes good design isn’t about filling every inch. It’s about giving a space exactly what it needs to work beautifully.

For this bedroom, we leaned into classic red, white, and blue, but kept it relaxed, layered, and collected rather than overly themed. Patterned bedding, warm wood nightstands, and those playful vintage-inspired details give the room plenty of personality while still feeling right at home with the rest of the house.

I especially love the mix of patterns here. Nothing matches perfectly, and that’s exactly the point.

Classic, comfortable, and just a little nostalgic.

Sometimes the spaces that seem the simplest are the ones that make the biggest difference.

A woven console and mirror bring in warmth and texture, soft blue ottomans carry the home’s color palette through, and a few collected pieces make it feel welcoming without overfilling the space.

It’s proof that an entry doesn’t need to be grand to make a great first impression; it just needs to feel intentional.
