When you’re renovating, it’s so easy to think, “Let’s just pick something and keep going.”

But one decision rarely exists on its own. Change the flooring, and it can affect the cabinetry. Change the cabinetry, and suddenly you’re reconsidering the hardware, backsplash, lighting, and paint.

I’ve learned that taking a little more time upfront can save you a lot of time, money, and frustration later.

And yes, even as a designer, I have to remind myself to slow down. Sometimes the smartest renovation decision is simply: “We’re not ready to decide yet.”
