Yesterday to shared some images of my art with my mom, and got the chance to tell her how much she taught me about beauty. I am not sure she will remember I told her that today, but in my heart I know she knows the role she played in me becoming an artist. She just exposed me to beauty, pointed out well crafted things to me and all along the way, I tucked this information away all the while building my own point of view from the places we lived. While we lived in Hawaii, I remember the orchids grew everywhere and so easily. The whole family was charmed when a bird dropped a small orchid branch on our roof and it grew into a complete blooming plant. I hope all the Mothers out there know that the smallest gestures can make your children bloom! “Winter Orchid” 54 x 64 oil on canvas available on my website.
