Thank you all for another fun First Friday! The weather was perfect, the sidewalks were full of people, we had waves of smiling faces coming through the gallery all night, with quiet patches in between where I could catch my breath and sneak a bite. Thank you to the food and drink pixies that made things magically appear throughout the night: iced sparkling Italian coffee, champagne cocktail, pizza from Splitshift, a “free pour” card for Collusion, chocolate-covered strawberries, cheese & crackers, and peanut butter m&ms and pistachio truffles (the last two from earlier this week for the show hanging process, but still magically appeared and appreciated). Y’all made me feel very loved. 🥰

I didn’t really get any pics of the crowds or festivities in the gallery, so here is one of the first official purchase of the show…

Closing out my May Modification series with a perfect reminder that the little details really do make all the difference. Just a few subtle tweaks to “3 Bleats to the Wind” (extending the bar for these boozehounds; adding - you know- SHADOWS) gave extra depth, contrast, and that extra pop in all the right places.

Pollen Patrol" was another piece collecting dust in my closet because I knew it was missing something. Year later, and after remembering that is real, I took another go at it for 's May Menagerie exhibit. The bold complementary purple bloom, plus reworking the wings and legs with more realistic detail, finally brought the whole piece to life!

I’m excited to share that "Llamapop" will be part of the HIVE artspace “Menagerie” exhibit! This theme was a fun (if not familiar) one—so, I took the opportunity to add a fresher twist to a piece I always liked, but didn't totally ~*lerve*~
