It all began in 1981, Susie Stoltzfus, having recently moved from Pennsylvania to New York, began to make quilts & show them at local quilt shows. With the encouragement of new friends, Susie first opened The Quilt Room in an upstairs bedroom of the Stoltzfus family farm house. Today, The Quilt Room is owned & operated by Susie's daughter & son-in-law, Naomi & Glenn Lapp. The quilts are still stac
ked high on a double bed; however with an inventory of more than 100 quilts, the majority are now displayed on wooden racks. Many new items and fabriccs have been added to The Quilt Room's inventory. Our shop is nestled in a white pine grove about 6 miles south of Penn Yan. Naomi & Glenn continue the family traditions that have been handed down for generations. Naomi continues to practice the art of quilt-making, a tradition that has been passed down from grandmother to mother to daughter. Glenn is honing a skill that has interested him since childhood - woodworking. Together, the Lapps run a business that features the fruits of their creative endeavors.
