Happy new week friends! I just wanted to hop on this morning and answer a few questions. I woke up yesterday to so many sweet messages. This normally would have been Ivy & Sparrow’s holiday open house weekend. This was the first time since 2014 I wasn’t preparing my own shop for the holidays. It was bittersweet for sure. So many people were shocked we were no longer in Lee’s Summit, Mo. If you didn’t know, my husband and I & 2 of my children moved to Arizona last summer. I’ve been flying back & forth to help my adult daughter when I could. She managed the shop & did all day to day in house operations, as I was strictly behind the scenes on most days. As you may not be aware unless you have owned a brick & mortar, it’s very hard without family or extra staff to maintain a beautifully curated shop. It takes a lot of energy and hours. My daughter also moved to another city, making her commute longer. Over time this would take a toll on anyone. She was able to do this for around 15 months day after day. With me being over 1,200 miles away and if she got sick or just needed time off, or a huge order arrives she had no one to ask for help.

So with all that, I decided it was time to pass the baton to another small business that was ready to expand and contribute to our beautiful downtown. It was the right thing to do at the right time for all my family. I have an online shop that I work on everyday, so you can still get to shop most of the Ivy & Sparrow treasures! I have a lot of beautiful items not listed as of yet and will continue listing items daily. First I’m a mom, a wife and everything else comes after. So please continue to be patient and support our family business even if we can’t see you in person. We miss you and appreciate all these years of your friendship & support. A huge thank you for those already placing orders and keeping me busy! ❤️ I do appreciate all the kind messages asking about Amanda, my family or just saying you miss us & the shop. We miss you too & it was a hard decision but it was the right one for our family . ❤️ Melissa

This is Melissa and I opened Very Violet Boutique 5 years ago. We recently opened a Second store located right next to our first store. They are sisters but oh so different. Ivy & Sparrow is beautifully curated boutique offering locally made jewelry, mens shaving items, prints, Amy Howard at Home Chalk Paint, Sweet Pickins Milk Paint, and beautiful furniture, soy candles, and local art. Everything in this space is soothing, a bit rustic with a touch of modern. Very natural textures and scents.

Very Violet Boutique started this crazy adventure offering vintage and repurposed furniture , gift items and home decor from over 22 local artisans and is even more beautiful now than 5 years ago. It is a cozy shop filled to the rim with vintage, unique and beautiful home decor and gifts. We hope you will stop by and check both of our shops out real soon. Lucky for you & me, they are located side by side in the Beautiful Historic District of Lee’s Summit. 18 SW 3rd St and 20 SW 3RD ST, Lee’s Summit, MO
