It’s been a while, but I’m back! Covid kicked my ass twice and it was rough. I spent lots of time in bed meditating and coming up with new ideas. This is a linzer bar. While it’s traditionally made with raspberries, I changed it up (surprise, surprise). This treat has a buttery almond crumb with a fresh made cherry jam. I also added rum soaked dried apricots for added texture and tart.

All the updates. I named my sourdough starter Lizzo because she’s 💯 and she inspires me. I’m holding off on telling you my end goal with her. But trust. I’d be surprised if anyone has tired it. I also picked up so many fun things from the farmers market! I love farms and local markets. People usually ask me for recipes and I willingly give them.but they tell me that their stuff never turns out like mine. While yes, a lot of flavors come down to training. But the most important thing that you can make your food with is A- Love and B-The highest quality ingredients you can forage. Yes, Love. Corny, I know. But food is a gift that we give our loved ones. We should pour ourselves into that gift.

You can get Smoked By Monet 🤭. This is what infused comfort food looks like! I love this recipe so much that I infused it. I can also make it vegan and or gluten free! I stuffed 1/2 of this meatloaf with a cheddar blend smoked it and glazed it with an infused Jack Daniels sauce to caramelize it. I also infused the Mac and cheese, the mashed potatoes, and the lemon bread. If I hosted an infused dinner would you come??

Burrata is an absolutely delicious Italian cheese. It has a mozzarella like outer skin. The inside is insanely rich and creamy. While most people would think that this is a party platter version of a Caprese salad, it’s flavor and consistency is way more complex. This is a mixture of slivered red onions, infused roasted garlic, freshly chopped basil, pearl, grape and heirloom tomatoes that have been dressed in aged balsamic and infused olive oil. The bread was brushed with infused butter and toasted. The textures are delicious with the crisp, toasted bread, fresh tomatoes and herbs, combined with an unexpectedly creamy cheese.🤌🏻

Infused Elote. What more can I say? I grilled the corn. Seasoned it. While it was grilling I made the sauce adding fresh garlic and seasonings. I buttered the grilled corn, sprinkled it with freshly chopped cilantro and freshly grated manchego after drizzling with infused sauce. Is there a mic drop emoji? Because I seriously out did myself 🤷‍♀️.

In the kitchen, first and foremost I’m a bread baker. Secondly, I’m a person that experiments and researches. Baking is an exact science. My goal is to combine all of these traits to push myself to create something delicious, high quality and different. I mentioned previously that I figured out how to infuse bread doughs. This is a sourdough starter. And with this home grown sourdough starter I’m going to attempt to make some crazy and truly unique edibles. Hold my beer.

I had someone reach out with a special request and some dietary restrictions. So I came up with a pistachio and fresh cherry baklava (it’s the season), with cardamom, rose water and honey. I’m a student of life and food. This is one of the times that I’m truly grateful that I grew up with an Arabic influence in my house. This is sooo infused… like holy hell 🤤🔥😳

See? Not all edibles are sweet. I actually don’t like sweets and prefer savory and salty treats. This is infused biscuits with sausage gravy and infused hashbrowns. I’m really happy with how it came out. I made the gravy without a recipe and it’s definitely a keeper, so I’ll have to write down what I did. This would be great with a poached or over easy eggs. The hashbrowns were perfectly crisp. The flavors and textures were on point.

Nobody in my immediate family likes to cook but my niece. She asked me to walk her through baking, filling and decorating a cake today. I had such an amazing time with her in the kitchen. She baked the gluten free vanilla cakes and made Lemon Curd from scratch. I showed her how to make European buttercream from scratch. The whole process in detail. Layering, filling, crumb coating, trouble shooting, frosting. She floored me. She was brilliant. Here’s to you Eden Burruel! Proud Ama moment 😭.

So alllll the baking happened today. All of it. This is a new one though. Have you ever been to one of those upscale steakhouses that offers gooey butter cake? Welp, here it is infused, bite sized…… and freaking amazing if I might so humbly add. It’s exactly as it sounds. You want to eat it warm. It’s not overly sweet, but the vanilla, butter, salt and sugar balance perfectly. And the texture? Stop it. •chefs kiss•
