Here’s one of our visitors in the shop today: Alex Miller from just up the road in Lancaster! He went from American Idol several years ago to a recording and touring career, now based near Nashville in Gallatin, Tennessee.
His granddaddy came in the store years ago to shop for WW2 collectibles for Alex, telling us about his talented grandson. He was so proud of that boy! Then he started bringing Alex with him to shop for WW2 memorabilia…..he was always a polite, smart, history-loving kid❤️.
Time passed and he was singing on American Idol and we voted for him every week🤩. We were proud to know him!
Today he came in to see us, and he was a treat….still that nice Kentucky young man—only taller😎. His voice is every bit as wonderful as his granddaddy claimed!

We’re not open yet (1:25 Tuesday), and it may be awhile before we open😬
John’s working with the electrician on a mid-century modern ranch that’s getting ready to close that he’s been renovating, and I’m cleaning our Airbnb for a houseful of guests coming in right before The 68 400-Mile-Long Yard Sale that starts Thursday.
It’s a good thing we’re retired🥸
If you came to town to see Chaplin River Antiques today and we’re not down there yet, call me (502-744-4248) and I’ll get down there with the key in half a jiffy. We’ll wake up Stonewall Jackson (official greeter), and we’re in business🤩

The 400-Mile Yard Sale (also known as The 68, because that’s the route it takes through Kentucky) is this Thursday through Sunday, June 4-7.
Highway 68 runs directly past Chaplin River Antiques, and our usual store hours (12:30-5) will be extended to 11:00-6 this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. You can find us at 344 South Buell St in historic Perryville, KY.
Last week an out-of-state tourist wandered in and exclaimed, “This is a real antiques store! You almost never see ‘em anymore!”
We try to keep the merchandise old, authentic, and unique❤️

Chaplin River Antiques hours this holiday weekend:
We’ll be open 12-5 Saturday, May 23,
1:30-5 Sunday, May 24, then CLOSED Monday-Friday. We plan to reopen Sat., May 30th.

Today’s the last Wednesday we’ll be closing at 3:00 for Granny’s group dulcimer lesson…..at least for the summer🙁

Today’s the last day this week Chaplin River Antiques will be open…..between a visit to the doctor for John tomorrow, a daughter graduating with her Masters, and incoming family, we’ll have the store closed until 12:30 Monday. We’d love to see you this afternoon or next week!❤️
